Last Chance to Nominate Lighting Companies for 2012 Hometown Hero Honors

LAS VEGAS — This is the last week in June, 2012 — and also the last week for PLSN readers to nominate the company that is most worthy of receiving the Parnelli Award for Best Regional Lighting Company in the U.S. and Canada. The Hometown Hero ballot will be posted throughout July, and PLSN readers will then get the chance to select which, among all the nominees, is most deserving of the honor in five U.S. regions and all of Canada. The regional winners will appear on the Parnelli Awards ballot for a final round of voting in August. The ultimate winner will be presented with the Parnelli Award at the gala ceremony set for Oct. 20, 2012 at the Mirage in Las Vegas.

LOS ANGELES – 4Wall LA recently provided lighting for dance convention JUMP, currently touring 25 US and 10 international cities. Break the Floor Productions is producing the event, which offers dance training and competitions.

ORLANDO – LD Justin Geiger of California-based Impulse Creative Group used 16 Clay Paky Sharpys for the concert portion of the GreenWavesIII event at the University of Central Florida. Featuring electronic artists and notable DJs, the interactive concert took sustainability to the next level by using a PowerLeap dance floor, which uses “Piezo” flooring technology to convert the energy from the crowd into reusable energy for the concert.

AUSTIN – The Austin Film Society’s (AFS) Texas Film Hall of Fame awards ceremony relocated to the new Moody Theatre this year. To take their production to the next level, they turned to Houndstooth Studio to design the events motion graphics and exterior lighting package. Part of the design included six VL3500 Wash FX luminaires from Philips Vari-Lite.
