Vincent Lighting Installs Strand, Selecon into NKU Theatre

DALLAS – When Northern Kentucky University (NKU) decided to implement a school-wide “Green” initiative, lighting designer Terry Powell called on Adam Hayward at Vincent Lighting Systems to overhaul his lighting rig. NKU’s budget allowed them to purchase more than originally specified, ending with 24 PL3 Wash luminaires from Philips Selecon and a Palette VL control console from Philips Strand Lighting.

DALLAS – Elation Professional dealer Gemini Light, Sound and Video in Dallas celebrated its 30th anniversary by welcoming its customers to the company’s newly expanded 76,000 sq. ft. warehouse and remodeled showroom. About 250 guests were there to view new products including Elation’s Platinum Spot 5R and Platinum Beam 5R moving heads.  Guests also got to see the new ELAR 108 RGBW and ELAR 216 RGBW IP65 LED color mixing fixtures from Elation’s architectural division.

BERGAMO, Italy – LD Carlos Colina specified 50 Clay Paky Sharpy lighting fixtures and grandMA2 lighting systems for the 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards, telecast live Nov. 10 on Univision Network. Atomic Lighting of Lititz, PA, supplied the equipment for the second consecutive year. This year’s show took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

KNOXVILLE, TN – The Warren Haynes Christmas Jam has become an annual tradition in Asheville, NC. In keeping with his “green” mantra, Haynes wanted more LED fixtures in this year’s show to reduce his carbon footprint, and Bandit supplied it once again. The event benefits Habitat for Humanity.

AUSTIN, TX – Indy bands  Passion Pit and The Glitch Mob each featured High End Systems intellaspot automated luminaires in recent shows. Glitch Mob LD Andy Cass tried out all their features, putting them through their paces from nightclubs to festival headlining shows. LD Marc Janowitz spec’d the intellaspots on Passion Pit, and as lighting director, Cass used the fixtures again for this band on a short run.

WILLIAMSPORT, MD – When fog ambiance is needed to enhance beams for elegant events – such as weddings – the last thing one wants to see is a big fog machine in the wedding photos. Russo’s On The Bay, a catering and event space, has been using Look Solutions’ Tiny Fogger F07 to fit into the smallest spaces yet provide big effects. For a recent matrimonial event, they incorporated the Tiny Fogger into a set of stairs to add drama to the day.

ORLANDO – St. Augustine’s Oldest Store Museum comes to life for visitors, thanks to products from Alcorn McBride. The former C.F. Hamblen Hardware store, established in 1875, became a museum in 1963 and was acquired in 2002 by Historic Tours of America. In preparation for the museum’s relaunch and grand opening last July, interactive elements were added to the experience.
