HOUSTON – The “unprecedented” volume of water unleashed after Hurricane Harvey swept ashore, then lingered, over eastern Texas caused flooding and forced the cancellation or postponement of major concerts and events, including Coldplay’s Aug. 25 concert at NRG Stadium, Mary J. Blige’s Aug. 25 performance at Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land, TX and Lady Antebellum’s Aug. 27 show at The Woodlands, Texas.

Avolites Arena Takes Top Spot at River Stage Weekends

Robe Gets Into Summer Stadium Show

MARSEILLE, FRANCE – Robe moving lights were top of the spec list compiled by Frederic “Aldo” Fayard from Paris based visual design practice Concept K, who produced an elaborate lighting design for the 2017 Summer Stadium Festival staged at the Orange Velodrome in Marseille. The Velodrome is France’s largest football ground with a capacity of over 67,000 and the country’s second largest stadium after the Stade de France. This was the second edition of the one day ‘Summer Stadium’ dance spectacular – following the first in 2015 – featuring an impressive line-up of electronic and EDM stars. It is organized by the venue itself.

Nature One Electronic Festival in Germany Includes GLP Fixtures

KASTELLAUN, Germany – For the 2017 edition of the Nature One electronic music festival, which drew some 65,000 revelers to Pydna Missle Base in Kastellaun, Germany Aug. 4-6, artists performed on a total of more than 20 stages. For the event’s main stage, LD Thomas Gerdon relied on fixtures from GLP to add intense visuals to the electronic pulse of the event. PRG provided 120 GLP GT-1’s, 108 impression X4 L’s and 48 GLP JDC-1 strobes.

Avolites Ai Media servers scribe new visual language in 360° projection

UK – 360° Theatre was the immersive cinema event by fulldome mapping specialist, GaiaNova, held at London’s Cody Dock. The event used exclusively Avolites Ai R8 Media servers to video map the interior of one of GaiaNova’s 18m projection domes with a diverse range of speciality designed 360° video over the course of two days. Content was created for the showcase by a host of visiting artists, including new media artists Bertie Sampson and Michaela French and creatives from The Royal College of Art’s Fulldome Research Group (FDRG). The National Space Centre’s (NSC) planetarium film, ‘We are Stars’ was also screened regularly throughout the event.
