U2’s 2017 Joshua Tree tour marks 30 years since the band released the classic album of the same name in 1987. The show highlights themes and imagery still current in today’s culture captured by longtime U2 photographer and film director Anton Corbijn. We spoke with creative director and lighting designer Willie Williams on the third date of this tour, which also features a set design by Ric Lipson of Stufish, staging by Tait, and lighting and video supplied by PRG/PRG Nocturne. New technologies include PRG’s Spaceframe and a 4K broadcast camera system integrated into the design.

WATERVILLE VALLEY, NH – For Granite United Church’s annual Warrior Conference, a three-day men’s retreat at the Waterville Valley ski resort June 1-3, Events United provided lighting and video gear from Chauvet Professional. The 2017 event used 20 Rogue R1 Wash fixtures, 10 Strike 4 fixtures, six Maverick MK1 Hybrids, four Maverick MK2 Spots, 12 Maverick MK2 Washes and four COLORado 2 Solo washes for lighting plus 85 PVP X6IP 6.9mm panels for video support.

BALTIMORE, MD – For seven days in April, the night sky over the city that gave birth to “The Star-Spangled Banner” glowed in a rainbow of colors, as Baltimore celebrated its Light City Festival. Over 400,000 visitors crowded the city’s downtown streets to enjoy hundreds of illuminated sculptures, building projections and interactive exhibits. At the heart of it all was the “Light Up The Night,” stage, where artists from a variety of musical genres including hip-hop, rock, jazz and world dance performed each evening.
