PORT DOUGLAS, Australia — Eric Robinson, longtime CEO of JPJ Audio and co-owner of Jands in Australia, died Nov. 11 after a bout with cancer. He was 67. Credited as both a risk-taking innovator and tough but shrewd and determined dealmaker, he retired earlier this year.
Read More »PHILADELPHIA – LD Daniel Thibault lit Adventure Club at the new Fillmore in Philadelphia with Rogue fixtures from Chauvet Professional. The 48 Rogue fixtures in the house rig included 20 Rogue R1 Washes, 12 Rogue R2 Beams and 16 Rogue R2 Washes flown over the stage and audience.
TORONTO — APG Displays appointed Michael Hollmen and Kyle Smith to key account executive roles at the company. The appointments come after the company’s most successful year to date, with the recent debut of the Orlando, Florida office that dramatically increased the size of their videowall rental and distribution fleet.
Read More »ITALY – Clay Paky spoke with lighting designer Valerio Tiberi on the visual design for the Italian production of Dirty Dancing, the theatrical musical adapted from the 1987 film. Tiberi noted his use of Clay Paky fixtures to meet the production’s stage lighting needs, including 26 Alpha Profile 1500s, 6 Alpha Wash 1500s and 14 Alpha Wash Halo 1200s.
MERANO, Italy – Rock The Lahn, a festival held in the Italian Alps in mid-June, featured Limp Bizkit, Fred Durst, the Broilers and more. Norbert Hofer, owner of Alpha Concept, looked after the technical production aspects of the event, which featured Clay Paky Mythos and Sharpy fixtures in the lighting rig. Clay Paky spoke with Hofer about the event.
FRANKFURT — The International Motor Show (IAA) takes place in Frankfurt every two years and is considered the world’s most important automobile trade show. Across a booth that spanned more than 9,000 m², Mercedes-Benz presented approximately 100 luxury cars. Of the 1,800 fixtures used to light the display, 804 were from Martin Professional.

Read More »LEDENIKA, Bulgaria – HB-Laser equipped the flowstone cave in Ledenika, Bulgaria with advanced multimedia technology: Video, Laser, Sound, LED lighting, fog and water screens have been implemented to add additional attraction and explanatory media to the cave. The European Union supported this project with subsidies, and HB-Laser was chosen as project partner for the implementation, together with their local partner Factor in Sofia, Bulgaria.
