ETC Announces 2015 LDI Student Sponsorship Recipients

MIDDLETON, WI – Every year ETC invites students with an interest in lighting design and stage technology from around the world to apply for the company’s annual LDI Sponsorship as a part of its commitment to nurturing young people looking to launch professional careers in the industry. Sponsorship recipients – five from North America and two international students — were awarded an all-expense-paid trip to the 2015 LDI tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV, Oct 23-25.

LONDON – At White Light’s Studio 15 training center, trainees got the chance to give video-mapping a try. Entitled Learn to Video Map Like a PRO! attendees of all levels of experience learned how easy it is to achieve complex projections quickly, trigger shows from a lighting desk and build a quick cue sequence using ArKaos MediaMaster PRO. Lady Antebellum “Wheels Up” Tour

Designer Paul “Arlo” Guthrie who set up Toss Film & Design back in 2002, a company that handles tour design, video and content, has kept busy lately. Along with the 2015 Van Halen tour design and recent Fleetwood Mac tour, Guthrie’s design on Lady Antebellum’s “Wheels Up” tour is his second outing with the band. His first collaboration with Lady A was their 2013 ‘Take Me Downtown” tour.

Steely Dan

Jon Pollak must be something of a mathematician, because he’s dealing with a lot of numbers. The first is Steely Dan’s band: There are 14 musicians to keep track of, and even on the typical big shed stage here on a not-too-hot July evening, that’s a crowded stage. Next, any given show’s set list comes from a master list of 70 tunes, all of which he has to be ready for.
