BURNABY, BC — If dance productions are traditionally a pas de deux between dance and lighting movements, with choreographed dance routines dictating the sway and flow of illumination, there’s no law saying you can’t reverse the creative process and give lighting the creative leading role. ATLANTA — Hip hop duo OutKast hit the road this year for the first time in a decade. The 20th anniversary featured three nights of hometown performances Sept. 26-28 at Centennial Olympic Park here. LD/programmer Daunté Kenner of DK Production Design shaped the looks and Atlanta Sound and Lighting provided the gear, which included Elation’s new Platinum SBX moving head fixtures.

LAS VEGAS — The Cyndi Lauper/Harvey Fierstein staged musical collaboration, Kinky Boots, a hit in Chicago in 2012 before its successful 2013 Broadway debut, kicked off its first national tour at the Smith Center here on Sept. 4, 2014 with a PRG-supplied lighting rig specified by LD Kenneth Posner. The tour rig includes 18 COLORado 2-Quad Zoom Tour fixtures from Chauvet Professional. PRG also provided gear for Kinky Boots’ pre-Broadway and Broadway engagements.
