In Memoriam: Demfis Fyssicopulos

LOS ANGELES — LD Demfis Fyssicopulos, 41, died April 23 while surfing. He is survived by a daughter, Onna, and sister, Kati. Fyssicopulos, who also served as a production designer and artistic director, made his mark with the distinctive lighting design that accompanied the “M”-shaped stage featured on the 2013 leg of Maroon 5’s Overexposed tour. Other standout projects included his design for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg at Coachella 2012, which included the hologram-like appearance of Tupac Shakur.

LMG Debuts Redesigned iPhone App

LMG announced a redesigned LMG Media Toolkit app with new features and optimized functionality. The free LMG Media Toolkit app puts LMG gear, news, and videos at the user’s fingertips, offering a range of information and videos. The app also features a redesigned widescreen calculator for computing blend areas for widescreen projection, as well as an LED Calculator for totaling the dimensions, weight, and power requirements for LMG’s indoor and outdoor LED tile products.

Yellowcard Performs with Chauvet Professional Gear

PROVIDENCE, RI — LD Cody James of JDI Productions lit Yellowcard’s concert at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel concert hall here earlier this year using Legend 230SR Beam and Legend 412 moving heads from Chauvet Professional. The concert marked the 10th anniversary of the release of Yellowcard’s Ocean Avenue album.

Swiss Planetarium’s Dome Lit with SGM P-5 Wash Fixtures

LUCERNE, Switzerland — Auviso provided SGM’s P-5 wash lights as part of a refurbishment for the Swiss Museum of Transport Planetarium here. The gear was sourced through local SGM distributor ASL. The Planetarium dome is now solely lit by P-5 fixtures. Auviso’s project manager, Patrik Peier, credited the gear for being both brighter and more energy efficient than the fixtures they replaced.

He opted for a setup from Chauvet Professional that includes four COLORado1 VW Tour quad-color warm white/cool white LED pars, 24 SlimPAR Pro RGBA par fixtures and for SlimPAR Pro VW par fixtures from Chauvet DJ.
