Wicreations Creates Automated Centerpiece for Music Festival

ANTWERP – Attracting upwards of 20,000 music fans, the Reverze music festival featured a 4.5 by 4.5 by 5 metre high scenic clock. Wicreations was responsible for the clock’s automation which included moving into position to 40 metres off the downstage edge of the stage right amidst the audience, moving vertically, rotating in two directions and splitting into two parts. Clad with LED screens on all sides, the set piece weighed 4.6 tons.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony Gets Assist from Pete’s Big TVs

NEW YORK – Pete’s Big TVs supplied high res LED video panels and a video tech crew for the 29th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony staged April 10 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Pete’s Big TVs provided 378 digiLED MC7 LED panels for the 65-by-15-foot (WxH) video wall that served as the centerpiece for production designer Bruce Rodgers’ set design. Pete’s also provided 60 panels of Absen A3 3.9mm for L-R displays behind the podiums.

TDC Delivers Tech and Crew for Australian Movie Seen at TEDx Sydney

SYDNEY – Technical Direction Company supported projection needs of the short film John Was A Good Man.  Directed by by Kate Kazokas and Lucy Adelaide, the film’s participants tell a short eulogy of their lives to date, using the third person. As they are speaking, video images of themselves got projected onto their own faces to heighten the sense of reflection and self-analysis.

White Light Runners Raise £1000+ for Light Relief Charity

LONDON – A team from White Light raised more than £1000 for Light Relief, the industry charity that provides support for lighting professionals in extreme hardship. The group of 22 runners completed the Richmond River Run in March of 2014. Participants in the run came from White Light departments including Hire, Sales, Events, Technical Service, Operations, Rigging, and Marketing.

NEW YORK – Rene De Keyzer, XL Video’s founder, was named CEO for the company’s U.S. operations, based in Atlanta, GA. The announcement was made at a New York event on April 14. ALPS Names Ethan Gilson Rigging Specialist

RANDOLPH, MA – ALPS, based here, recently named Ethan Gilson as the company’s rigging specialist, a new position. An ETCP Certified Rigger and Recognized trainer, Ethan has been with the company since 1999, where he worked a lighting designer and production rigger for the Events Department. He is currently a voting member of the PLASA Rigging Working Group and has chaired task groups in the development of ANSI Standards for rigging in the entertainment industry.
