In Memoriam: Eric Pearce, Innovator and Visionary, 72

It is with a heavy heart that PLSN has learned of the passing of industry visionary, Eric Pearce, owner of SGPS/ShowRig. He died on Sunday, July 24, 2022, he was 72. Details of his passing have not yet been released. He was a Parnelli Visionary Honoree in 2013 and will be greatly missed throughout the industry. We will have more on the life and career of Pearce at a later date.

Drawing on Childhood Memories for a 2022 Tour

“I grew up listening to Tears for Fears. I have vivid memories of looking out the back window of my Mom’s Plymouth Horizon while ‘Seeds of Love’ played on the cassette deck,” recalls Kerstin L. Hovland, Screens Producer & Video Designer for the band’s 2022 “The Tipping Point” tour. For this tour, Hovland’s mother Annette, a collage artist, was able to play a key role in the visuals, including those for “Seeds of Love.” “There was something beautifully circular about animating my mother’s artwork for a band she played for me,” Kerstin notes.

Survey for Equitable Labor Practices in Theatrical Production, Ends July 31

Do you design, work as crew or technical staff in theatrical production? If so, you are invited to participate in a survey in support of academic research on the equitable labor practices in theatrical production. This research is for a book that is being written about equitable labor in theater production.
