CIC News | Showstoppers Costume Exhibit Opening in Times Square to Benefit Industry

The Costume Industry Coalition is putting on a benefit exhibition—Showstoppers! Spectacular Costumes from Stage & Screen—that’s being staged at 234 West 42nd Street for an eight-week limited engagement, running August 5 through September 26, 2021. Showstoppers will be open Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. The 20,000 square-foot space formerly was a Modell’s sporting goods store that design firm Thinc Design transformed into an immersive maze featuring more than 100 of the industry’s most beautiful and complex garments. As guests make their way through the exhibit, they will get to see up close the detail and craftsmanship typically only seen far away on stage or screen. Here’s a video preview from the CIC:

Register Now for the USITT 2021 Virtual Costume Symposium

USA/U.K. – USITT and Arts University Bournemouth are once again collaborating to bring you the 2021 Virtual Costume Symposium—a virtual costume study tour to introduce participants to British costume for theatre and film through the study of historical costume. This will run on Zoom from July 26 – August 6, 2021, with daily sessions at 11:00 a.m. EDT/4:00 p.m. BST. Astera AX3 “Beacons” Light Up the Border between Denmark and Germany

DENMARK and GERMANY – An illuminated trail of 105 x Astera AX3 “beacons” fitted with custom firmware was set up along a 58-kilometer stretch of the Danish / German border as part of “Genforeningen 2020,” a series of events celebrating the centenary of the reunification of Southern Jutland with the kingdom of Denmark, which took place following a referendum in 1920.
