ETC Re-Launches Source 4WRD

MIDDLETON, WI – This past April, ETC’s Source 4WRD was proactively placed on a shipping hold. The thermal management system was degrading faster than we anticipated and we made the choice to halt the shipment of a product that did not meet our internal standards. After months of redesigning, reworking, and retesting, we are pleased to announce that the new Source 4WRD has passed our rigorous testing. Given the overwhelmingly positive test results, the team agrees Source 4WRD is ready for re-release.

U.K.’s BoomTown Launches Sector 6 Performance Area; GLS Provides Gear

WINCHESTER, UK – THE 2016 Boomtown Festival, staged Aug. 11-14, featured a new stage and performance area, Sector 6. Dan Borg’s unusual set design featured an industrial vibe with tons of scrap metal. Borg and Boomtown’s production manager Robin Collins turned to Dave Whiteoak of Video Illusions for a lighting and video assist. Whiteoak brought in LD Sam Tozer from Vision Factory, and lighting rental company GLS supplied the needed gear.

English National Opera’s ‘Tristan & Isolde’ Lit with Robe’s DL7S LED Profiles

LONDON – DL7S LED Profile luminaires from Robe made their U.K. debut at the Coliseum in London’s Covent Garden, as part of the lighting rig for the English National Opera (ENO) production of Wagner’s Tristan & Isolde directed by Daniel Kramer. Lighting was designed by Paul Anderson, set and scenic elements were created by influential sculptor Anish Kapoor and the video was designed by Frieder Weiss.

Closing Show for World’s Longest Soccer Game Lit with Clay Paky Fixtures

SANTIAGO, Chile – A new world record was set for the Guinness Book of records at the La Florida stadium in Santiago, Chile, on May 22. A total of 2,357 players took part in a 120-hour soccer match and broke the previous record held by England, where a non-stop 105-hour game was played. The match, which was organized by Entel and Huaweii, was accompanied by a closing show. Local production company Real Audio Sistemas provided Clay Paky Mythos, Scenius, Sharpy Wash 330 and Alpha Spot HPE 1500 fixtures.

WIcreations Helps Massive Attack Screen Stand Out

BRISTOL, U.K. – Entertainment engineering specialist WIcreations was asked to create a new visual solution for the recent Massive Attack tour. The video design, created by United Visual Artists (UVA) – needed a full horizontal section in the middle of a flown Roe MC7 LED screen that measured 14.4 by 6 meters (WxH) to protrude from the rest of the surface by half a meter. This was to make specific text statements, facts and figures being displayed really stand out.

German Cruise Ship, “Mein Schiff 5,” Sets Sail with Robe Lighting Fixtures

HAMBURG, Germany – Robe moving lights – including 65 DL4 series luminaires in the form of 50 x DL4F LED washes and 15 x DL4S Profiles  – were again selected as flagship fixtures for the four major entertainment areas aboard Mein Schiff 5, the latest cruise ship to be launched by German based operator TUI Cruises. This follows up the very successful Robe installation on Mein Schiff 3 in 2014 and Mein Schiff 4 in 2015.
