LA BS to Distribute GLP Products in France

PARIS – French wholesaler LA BS, who has been supplying professionals and end users for 25 years, has signed an exclusive distribution partnership with GLP for its lighting fixture solutions in France. With more than 45 employees, LA BS will now distribute the complete impression series range for GLP. Pictured here is Bruno Souchaud, lighting product manager for LA BS, which has a showroom in Paris and a warehouse in the suburbs just south of the French capital.

Italian Rock Concert Performed by 1,200 Musicians Lit with DTS Fixtures

CESENA, Italy – A band comprised of 1,200 musicians performed before a sold-out audience of 13,000 for a unique event, “Rockin’1000 – That’s Live.” The massive concert was staged on the lawn of the Manuzzi stadium in Cesena, Italy in late July.  LD Claudio Tappi used more than 400 DTS moving lights for this mega rock event. AMG International supplied the DTS fixtures for the gig.

BEAVERTON, OR — Biamp Systems held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new Cascade Building in Tigard, OR on July 27. The Cascade Building, which is home to Biamp’s manufacturing and customer support teams, joins the Gemini Building and together serve as the company’s headquarters. Although based in a different town, the two buildings are less than one mile apart. Tigard’s Mayor John L. Cook (pictured here) and others were on hand to weild the big scissors and make the buiding’s grand opening official.

VOLKLINGEN, Germany —Focon Showtechnic, the German distributors for PR Lighting, noted that the Chinese manufacturer’s products were used at the Electro-Magnetic EDM festival in Völklingen, which drew close to 10,000 to the Völklinger Hütte on July 16. The Völklinger Hütte, a former steel plant and world cultural heritage site, was visually transformed for a lineup that included Robin Schulz, Alle Farben, Chopstick & Johnjon, Moguai, Richie Hawtin, and others.

ROME – Vasco Rossi followed up his extensive tour in 2015 with another series of extravagant concerts this year, and LD Giovanni Pinna has a new tool in his arsenal – Clay Paky’s Spheriscans. The artist performed a series of shows in late June that kicked off with an event at the the Lignano Sabbiadoro stadium on June 18 and drew big crowds, especially with his concert at the Olympic Stadium in Rome.

Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee Installs Massive Center-Hung Video Display

BRISTOL, TN — The “Colossus” video display, suspended by cables attached to four giant, purpose-built towers outside the stadium at Bristol Motor Speedway, is being called the world’s largest outdoor center-hung video display. Each of the four panels on the display measure 30 by 63 feet (HxW), and each is comprised of 240 digiLED Toura6 6mm LED panels (24 x 10, WxH). Along with digLED, GoVision and Panasonic were involved in this project. The display will also feature prominently in the Battle of Bristol, which is expected to set a record as the biggest college football game ever when the University of Tennessee/Knoxville faces off against Virginia Tech on Sept. 10. Some 150,000 spectators are expected to attend.
