MANCHESTER, U.K. – Parklife, formerly known as The Parklife Weekender, is an independent music festival held annually in Manchester. This year’s event saw 140,000 people attend the two day festival held on June 11-12. dbn Lighting were back in Heaton Park, where they supplied lighting, rigging and LED screen to five out of the eight main performance areas – including the Main Stage, Stage 3 (The Rotunda), Stage 5 (Elrow), Stage 6 (The Colonnade) and Stage 8 which was hosted by two pumping club nights MTA and MK.

Sydney’s Star Hotel and Casino Brightens with Clay Paky SuperSharpys

SYDNEY — For Vivid Sydney 2016, the Star hotel and casino presented roof-mounted beams from 36 Clay Paky SuperSharpys, protecting each fixture from the elements with Clay Paky Igloos. Show Technology supplied the gear, with technical manager Mike Gearin working with Bruce Dwyer to put the system together. Thirty-six IP-rated ShowPro LED Flood EX36 were positioned between the Supersharpys for color wash.

GLS Lighting Warms Glastonbury’s Avalon Stage with Chauvet Professional Fixtures

PILTON, U.K. – The the lineup of folk/roots bands performing at the Glastonbury Festival’s Field of Avalon performance area, GLS Lighting provided a rig that included a collection of Rogue and Strike 4 fixtures from Chauvet Professional. The GLS team, headed by Wil Thomas and John Curtis, flew 12 Rogue R1 Beam, 8 Rogue R2 Wash and 8 Rogue R2 Beam fixtures on the upstage truss.

Blizzard Lighting’s Lo-Pro CSI LED black light PAR fixture gets its ultraviolet light from 36 3-Watt 365nm UV LEDs. The fixture also offers designers two pixel patterns and a 15° beam angle. Pentatonix 2016 World Tour Rig Includes Elation ACL 360i

ARLINGTON, TX — A cappella group Pentatonix have been touring with a lighting design where Elation Professional’s compact ACL 360i beam effect light plays a key role.  Production designer Sooner Routhier of SRae Productions used many of the fixture’s features for the Grammy-winning group. After their U.S. dates, Pentatonix toured Europe and are heading to Japan and Australia/New Zealand this summer. The band will resume touring the U.S. in October.

LONDON – A promotional film for the 2016 BBC Proms, an eight-week summer season of daily orchestral classical music concerts and other events that starts on July 15, features performance artist and cellist Sol Gabetta debuting her performance of Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor. It also features video imagery projection-mapped onto the surface of Gabetta’s cello, the smallest surface area that the team at 59 Productions has ever mapped.

MOSCOW— For Red Bull Wrong Side, a touring show featuring Jack’s Garret, a nine person modern dance troupe, LD Evgeny Romakhin worked with a Martin M6 console to provide a special mood for each moment of the original, jointly choreographed work. The six-month tour culminated in a sold out series of shows at Moscow’s Pushkin Drama Theatre. Romakhin’s Martin-controlled rig also included Martin lighting fixtures: 38 MAC Aura XBs, 18 MAC 700 Profiles, two Atomic 3000 DMXs and a MAC Viper Profile. Russia-based Laser-Kinetics supplied the gear.

AV Stumpfl Helps Resurrect Norway’s Olympic Highlights for New Museum

LILLEHAMMER, Norway — The Norwegian Olympic Museum, launched in Feb. 2016 by the Queen of Norway at a prestigious ceremony, features unique video installations, curated exhibits of cultural and historic artefacts and Olympic memorabilia. The Design Oasis Expands Looks at Purple Hatters Ball with Rogue R1 FX-B LED Fixtures

LIVE OAK, FL – A procession of over two dozen bands performed on stage at the 9th annual Purple Hatters Ball in mid-June, but this three-day festival has never really been just about the music. Set in a pastoral region of north Florida, and offering sessions in yoga, healing arts and meditation, Purple Hatters is as much about raising consciousness as it is about pleasing the ear buds.  This year’s event had an appropriately expansive lightshow, thanks in part to the addition of the Rogue R1 FX-B LED fixture from Chauvet Professional.
