SWAKOPMUND, Namibia — The 2015 Namibian Annual Music Awards program (NAMAs), staged at the Swakopmund Indoor Sports Centre, featured a design from Cape Town-based LD Jonathan Bandli. He used more than 100 Robe fixtures, including 18 BMFL Spots, 24 Pointes, 12 LEDBeam 1000s, 24 LEDWash 600s, eight LEDWash 300s, 12 LEDBeam 100s, eight 600E Spots and six ColorWash 700E ATs. Windhoek, Namibia-based dB Audio Namibia supplied gear for the event, produced by Rockstar 4000.

Pete’s Big TVs Makes Magic for ‘Penn & Teller: Fool Us’

NEW CASTLE, DE — Aspiring magicians are invited onstage to show their tricks and fool the magician-comedian duo Penn & Teller in a new series on the CW Network, “Penn & Teller: Fool Us.” Video equipment rental company Pete’s Big TVs played a part in the magic, providing LED video panels, projectors and crew. The 13-episode season, taped in the Penn & Teller Theatre at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, airs Monday nights at 8/7 Central Time.

PILTON, UK — Created by Joe Rush’s Mutoid Waste Company, two artworks, Peace Time Flies and Pagan Crown, provided visual inspiration for the music-loving crowds drawn to the Glastonbury Festival’s Pyramid and Other stages in late June. The artworks, depicting a large metallic winged clock and a horn-bedecked pagan headdress surrounding a giant pearl, respectively, were bathed in hues from an assortment of Chauvet Professional and Iluminarc LED fixtures.

LAS VEGAS — This is the last week for PLSN readers to vote for their favorite regional lighting companies now in the running for the 2015 Parnelli Hometown Hero Lighting Company of the Year award. This stage of the voting process will narrow the current field of 30 regional companies now on the Hometown Hero ballot down to six regional winners (five U.S. regions and all of Canada), and the Hometown Hero preliminary voting deadline is Friday July 31 at 5 p.m.
