LOS ANGELES – Adobe MAX 2014, a conference for users of Adobe software products, included general sessions at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. PIX Productions and Worldstage supported the most recent event by combining state-of-the-art pixel mapping technologies with one of the world’s oldest staging techniques: periaktoi, which are triangular-shaped devices used for displaying, and rapidly changing, theater scenes. Periaktoi techniques date back to the times of ancient Greece.

Long Reach Long Riders Announce Route for 12th Annual Charity Motorcycle Ride

NASHVILLE, TN – This year’s ride has been dubbed “Cruzin’ the Ozarks, The Dozenth’ Year.” Riders will gather in Nashville, Tennessee, ride down the bucolic Natchez Trace toward the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas and Missouri and then circle back and pass through the Land Between the Lakes on their return to Nashville. The route will feature day rides venturing deep into the Ozarks, departing from picturesque Petit Jean State Park. Experienced riders know these roads as some of the best riding in the country, including the ‘Pig Trail Parkway’, ‘Ozark Dragon’, and the ‘Arkansas Grand Canyon’.

LD Jason Bullock Uses Ayrton Fixtures to Light Wiz Khalifa Tour

IRVINE, CA – LD Jason Bullock of Infinity Point Design has been using Ayrton lighting fixtures to Wiz Khalifa’s Under the Influence of Music Tour this year. Under the Influence of Music is an annual event which brings up-and-coming hip-hop artists to venues across America. Bullock was among the first to use Ayrton’s MagicPanel 602 last year and has returned to it this year, incorporating 48 of the units in his design. To these he has added Ayrton’s newly released Radical Series, employing 36 MagicBlade-R linear fixtures and 12 MagicRing-R9 fixtures.

LONDON – LD Jeff Maker choose Robe’s new BMFL Spot fixtures as part of his lighting mix for punk rockers Gaslight Anthem. He also used 18 Pointes, 16 LEDBeam 100s, six ROBIN 600E Spots, 8 CycFX 8s and 12 LEDWash 600s. “Essentially I needed a super-bright fixture to use on large spec shows that often have a high video or bright LED elements. Various fixtures appear on lighting plots – but BMFL is the first one that ticks all the boxes without compromise!” Maker said.

Fineline Helps Illuminate Tesco for Christmas

MANCHESTER, U.K. – Fineline and Immersive worked together to support the launch of the Christmas season for Tesco. More than 1.4 kilometers of rope lighting lit up shopping carts, lamp-posts, and other street furniture plus around 60 individual LED festive decorations. The backdrop was a 80 by 7 meter (WxH) LED video screen along with five Robe Pointes installed behind the Tesco sign, and the green Christmas crown popped up right at the end of the show sequence.

FLOWER MOUND, TX – Valley Creek Church recently upgraded the lighting in its 1,400-seat Flower Mound auditorium by installing more than 120 Chroma-Q Inspire LED house lights. Church leaders had sought an immersive environment during its worship services. Summit Integrated Systems worked with Dallas-based project consultants, Idibri, who recommended the Inspire fixture and provided a layout guide for them within the auditorium.

LONDON – Preferring to control the show on the fly, Motorhead’s LD Caio Bertti has been using a Sapphire Touch console from Avolites. “There’s no cue-list, there’s no time coding, it’s just in my head and fingers. You have to play the board, which is why I chose the Sapphire Touch. It gives me more freedom and I can run through the options on the songs very quickly. The new software is also very useful now that we have the foot tracking back-up mode just in case. For me, specifying the Sapphire Touch was a matter of necessity.”

LIVERPOOL, England – Adlib has supplied audio and lighting design, equipment and installation for the University of Liverpool’s Mountford Hall, the Stanley Theatre and The Courtyard. For lighting of Mountford Hall, 12 Robe Pointes are joined by 12 x Martin MAC Aura LED wash fixtures and six ETC Source Four Zooms for key lights and specials. For effects, there are eight 2-lite blinders, Atomic strobes and two Martin Magnum 2500 hazers, all run from an Avolites Pearl Expert console.

Owner James Mason, who set up the Milton Keynes-based company 16 years ago, took the decision after sub-renting some of the fixtures for a project.
