Nexus Panels Anchor “Power Towers” on Machine Gun Kelly Tour

LOS ANGELES – For the “No Class Tour” featuring rap artist Machine Gun Kelly, a.k.a. MGK, LD Alex Kay used a rig supplied by 4Wall Los Angeles that included Nexus 4×4 panels from Chauvet Professional. Kay’s design had a total of four 10-foot and two 5-foot truss towers positioned upstage to focus attention on MGK and his band. Each tall tower supported a pair of Nexus panels. Limp Bizkit co-headlined the tour.

SGM Beefing Up Sales, Technical Support in the Americas

ORLANDO, FL — SGM announced the opening last month of SGM Inc. LONDON – Lighting designer Louis Oliver of Okulus has chosen to use Showline SL NITRO 510C fixtures to add colour and strobing to his ethereal lighting for a special, one-off Chvrches show at London’s Brixton Academy. As the Scottish electro-pop trio has only played four dates in the UK since forming two years ago, they wanted to make sure the Brixton show was as audience captivating as possible. To that end, Oliver specified 17 of the Showline strobes from HSL to bring more than one strong look to his design.

LONDON – Philips Vari-Lite is backing up the introduction of its VL4000 Spot fixtures with fixture-specific training sessions. One of these recent workshops took place at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) led by Coral Cooper, a veteran Vari-Lite trainer for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) customers. There, the VL4000 Spot luminaires were disassembled to the sub-assembly level to demonstrate ideal maintenance techniques. Cooper also explained the VL4000 Spot luminaire’s broad range of features, informing the end users and potential customers at the session on how to use them to their advantage.

LOS ANGELES – LD LeRoy Bennett lit Lady Gaga’s ice themed ArtRave/Artpop Ball world tour set with a lighting rig that includes Clay Paky gear. Bennett specified huge banks of A.leda B-EYE K20s and Sharpys to light the large set with vibrant, multi layered, multi-faceted and lively looks. Supported by lighting director Whitney Hoversten, who has taken the show on the road, Bennett specified 107 Clay Paky B-EYEs and 83 x Sharpys, all supplied by PRG, to create the show’s high octane, rave style atmosphere.
