Laser Show Beamed on Table Mountain Honors Nelson Mandela

CAPE TOWN, South Africa — To honor the memory of Nelson Mandela, the anti-Apartheid activist who emerged from more than 27 years of incarceration to serve as president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999, the Western Cape Government hired LaserX to beam imagery and messages on the side of Table Mountain near Cape Town from Dec. 8-16. The laser show began three days after Mandela, winner of the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, died (on Dec. 5, 2013 at age 95).

KOLDING, Denmark — Jacob Elsig, project manager from Get Visual, worked with his LD, Christian Vigsø, to support the lighting needs for the inaugural Light Festival that took place in Kolding, Denmark from Dec. 12-14, 2013. They used SGM fixtures for the Spanish Steps, The Train Station Square’s installation named The Spider and the Hotel Saksildhus (pictured here) with  SGM lighting fixtures.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — The 12th annual Art Basel in Miami Beach event, a spinoff of an annual Swiss arts event dating back to 1970, drew a record 75,000 in early December to see and buy offerings from 258 galleries from 31 countries. The estimated total value of the artwork changing hands: $3 billion. At the Alexander Mijares Gallery, LD Ruben Laine used Chauvet Professional fixtures to bring attention to — and ultimately sell — artwork on display.
