HONG KONG – Since its opening, the Hong Kong Science Museum has captivated the public’s curiosity through interactive and enlightening exhibitions. The Museum recently opened a series of new exhibits designed to encourage a greater understanding of the world all around us. Wanting to implement an energy-efficient LED lighting system to accentuate the exhibits, the Museum called upon longtime partner Pacific Lighting Ltd who provided them with complete system of Altman Lighting Pegasus, Spectra Cyc 50 and ME4 luminaires.

DALLAS – Versatility is a key ingredient in any lighting rig that Creative Production & Design builds for a multi-artist show. This was especially evident recently when the Austin, Texas-based company created a lighting and video show for CRUSH Dallas 2017, part of a four-city Insomniac production. Their immersive, high octane rig engaged the packed house at the South Side Ballroom, while also supporting the diverse musical styles of artists on stage, thanks in part to a massive collection of PVP X6IP LED video panels from Chauvet Professional.
Gerriets featured its new Ultrabrite Projection Fabric at USITT 2017 in St. Louis. The seamless 140’ wide by 13’ high projection surface could be seen by attendees at the entrance to the expo hall. Wladimiro A. Woyno R., a Yale University Graduate Student, designed the projections with vibrant textures reminiscent of circuit boards and animations evoking Broadway hits. These were carefully mapped across seven projectors over the 140’ wide fabric.

NIAGARA FALLS, NY — Philips Lighting control systems are managing the new color illumination of the landmark 167-foot-high Niagara Falls, on the border of the U.S. and Canada. The new LED system, activated Dec. 1, 2016, replaces Xenon spotlights in use since 1974 and, prior to that, carbon arc sources in use since the falls were first permanently illuminated in 1925.

LOS ANGELES — For this year’s Grammy Awards, held Feb. 12 at Staples Center, Full Flood Inc. provided a lighting design that incorporated X4 atoms and X4 Bar 20 fixtures from GLP. PRG provided the fixtures, which were used for performances by Bruno Mars and Beyoncé (pictured here), among others. Full Flood also specified 20 impression X1 fixtures for A Tribe Called Quest.
