MEXICO CITY – Hermes Music México, authorized dealer for Wireless Solution in Mexico, recently completed an architectural lighting project in the Santa Fe district of Mexico City. Hermes supplied PR Lighting fixtures to light up Paragon Tower, a 151m high hotel, all with LED sources. Ricardo Segura de la Cruz, lighting specialist for Hermes, used WhiteBox F-1 G4S series units, which complemented PR Lighting’s capability to use W-DMX, for control.

QUEENSTOWN, New Zealand – Vocal trio Sol3 Mio recently completed a tour of their native New Zealand in February and March in support of their album, On Another Note. LD Joel Stanners lit the trio using 16 Robe BMFL Spots as the main hard edged fixtures. These were supplied by Auckland, New Zealand-based lighting and production rental company Oceania.

Throughout the creative process for this tour, lighting designer and director Cate Carter wanted to explore the different facets of Ellie’s musical personality. Carter and co-designer Dan Shipton (of Black Skull Creative) were inspired by the wide range of musical styles and influences that Ellie explores both through her recorded work and live performance.
A little light can go a long way in the darkness. It can bring awareness to surroundings. it can cut its own path. It will draw the human eye to it every time. That is the sole intention of Light it up Blue. How a few blue lights can draw the public’s attention to a plight that now affects us all.

How an Unknown Musician and a Young LD Paved Each Other’s Career
In the late 1970s, Roy Bennett was a young tech working for Zenith Lighting, a vendor with a Los Angeles office at the time. The head of the company knew that his employee wanted to get into the design part of the lighting business and promised him if he ever got a call, he would submit his name. In 1980, that call came from an unknown singer from Minneapolis that few had ever heard of. This was the start of a 14-year relationship between two young men who ended up rising to be the pinnacles of their respective industries.

It was a sad day in the city of Minneapolis last month. The musical icon who put the First Avenue performance venue and this city on the musical map had passed on. The streets outside the club where Prince Rogers Nelson had filmed Purple Rain some 30 years ago closed down as the masses gathered to “get through this little thing we call life.”
