Read More »LOUISVILLE, KY – Since late-November, visitors to Louisville’s South Fourth Street dining, entertainment and shopping district have been treated to some festive architectural “eye candy” thanks to Axxis, Inc., a local production design firm, that installed 25 elektraLite 1018 LED fixtures illuminating building façades along the street.
Read More »NASHVILLE – Some of the University of Tennessee’s top students, including Hannah Robison and Josh Dobbs, who are, respectively, Miss Tennessee and UT’s football team QB, arrived at Legislative Plaza in Nashville February 17 to meet with Tennessee legislators during the 10th Annual UT Day on the Hill. Bandit Lites provided Vari*Lite VL 2500s to cover the room with patterns and colors, while GRNLite LED Battens lit the upper balcony walls. ZR 44 smoke machines gave the senators and representatives a dramatic entrance. Additional lighting came from custom UT gobos shot with ETC 5 degree ellipsoidal, while the stage lighting and control was provided by the venue.
Read More »PARIS — The Eagles of Death Metal were able to return to Paris for a Feb. 16 concert performance at the Olympia music venue — free to survivors of the terrorist attack at the Bataclan on Nov. 13, 2015. But their 23-date “Nos Amis” tour of Europe, planned from Feb. 13 to early March, was cut short after singer and guitarist Jesse Hughes sustained a torn tendon in his finger.

They promise to strengthen robustness for content management and delivery over large digital signage networks. The new QL Load Balancing, Failover and CDN modules, to be shown at Digital Signage Expo (March 16-17, Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth 2218), are intended for digital out-of-home networks comprised of 1000 or more Windows or Android media players. As pictured here, Navori Labs’ CDN module establishes a connection between QL Professional and Microsoft’s Azure global cloud network.

A.C.T Lighting, Inc. is the exclusive distributor of MA Lighting products in North America. Pyrotecnico plans to use the dot2 cores for DMX-controlled flames, CO2 jets, confetti and streamers, and DMX-driven laser technology for upcoming shows.

The eMOTION is Elation’s new plug and play DMX moving light with an on-board media server developed in cooperation with High End Systems. Utilizing only 32 DMX channels (54 in extended mode), it houses royalty-free digital art and videos with the ability to upload custom content.

There are now 18 LEDWash 1200s, 10 Pointes, eight DL4S Profiles and eight miniPointes. They join 26 LEDBeam 100s purchased a few months earlier from Robe’s South African distributor, DWR.
Read More »SANTA CLARA, CA – At Super Bowl 50, there was no shortage of temporary broadcast studios and stage structures to accommodate all the sports media covering the big game. Filmwerks International, based in Rocky Point, NC, handled the design, construction, and power for many of the studios. Filmwerks used nearly 1,000 pieces of ModTruss to erect seven broadcast structures including multiple NFL Network Super Bowl structures in the Media Center, field location, and at the Super Bowl City main entrance. Filmwerks also built the CBS Sports’ Stadium location and provided additional support for the flying camera systems.
