USITT To Honor 10 Rising Theatre Artists with 2016 YD&T Awards on March 17

SALT LAKE CITY – USITT noted that 10 up-and-coming theatre artists will get special recognition through its Young Designers & Technicians Awards program with a ceremony set for March 17, during the association’s annual convention. The YD&T Awards honor designers and technicians early in their careers. It is supported with funding from industry sponsors. This year’s awards ceremony will also feature remarks by Steve Younkins, creator of Q2Q Comics, a web comic devoted to theatre tech. Pictured here is USITT Rose Brand Scene Design Winner Mingshuo Zhao’s design for Battlecruiser Aristotle. Zhao is due to receive an MFA degree from the University of California-San Diego the same month as the USITT event.

Sinus AV Media and Systems Integrations Awards to be Presented April 7 in Frankfurt

FRANKFURT – The Sinus – Systems Integrations Awards, to be presented during Prolight + Sound 2016, will honor two AV media technology/systems integration standout products this year: the Two70 Multiplex Event Area in the ‘Anthem of the Seas’ cruise liner (entertainment category) and 63 lecture theatres of Stuttgart University (corporate category). The ceremony will be held in Hall 4.0’s Saal Europa on April 7, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.

LONDON – UK theatre lighting designer Johanna Town included Robe’s new DL4S Profile fixture in her design for Pine at London’s Hampstead Theatre. Jacqui Honess-Martin’s tragi-comedy focuses on a group of 20-somethings from mixed backgrounds and experiences sell Christmas trees from a street outlet, with lighting for scenes ranging from early morning to midnight during the month of December.
