China Upgrades ETC Gear at Hangzhou Grand Theatre in Preparation for 2016 G20 Summit

HANGZHOU, China – Hangzhou, the capital city of China’s Zhejiang Province, will host the 2016 G20 Summit from Sept. 4-5. China earmarked more than $1.1 million to upgrade the Hangzhou Grand Theatre (HZGT), 11 years after the theater opened with an ETC lighting system. ETC’s Chinese dealer, Hangzhou YiDaShi Lighting Equipment Co. Ltd. (YiDaShi), provided ETC’s Source Four LED Series 2 Lustr luminaires, Eos Ti and Gio lighting-control consoles, and a Sensor power-control system for the 592,000-square-foot arts complex, which houses five venues.

Former Starlite Employees Arrested in Theft of Close to $323,000 in Gear

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Longtime employees at Starlite Productions, Gustavo Gomez, 42, and Donna Gomez, 59, were arrested and charged with stealing gear from the company. The theft allegedly took place from 2008 to 2014, with the total among of gear valued at close to $323,000, according to the Burlington County, NJ Prosecutor’s Office. The arrests came after an 18-month investigation.

ILC Adds Elation Volt Q5 Fixtures to Rental Inventory

CHICAGO – Intelligent Lighting Creations (ILC) recently added Elation Professional’s Volt Q5 uplight fixtures to its rental inventory. The fixture is designed to serve as a go-anywhere RGBW LED wash light. It runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Featuring IP65 housing, the battery lasts up to 12 hours between charges. ADJ’s ON-X mobile LED effect fixture offers eight 3W LEDs and flexible dual-head movement. The two red, two green, two blue and two white 3W LEDs have a 4-degree beam angle for beams in a range of colors, 270 degrees tilt movement and eight-zone chasing. The fixtures can be mounted vertically or horizontally and used by themselves or in multiples for strobing effects or with 0-100 percent electronic dimming. The three operating modes include Show, Sound Active and DMX-Controlled options, all selected from the unit’s four-button LED display.

GOSHEN, KY — Jan Musson, founder of Santa Clara, CA-based Musson Theatrical, died peacefully at home in Goshen, KY at 10:30 p.m. Dec. 21, 2015. She was 79. A graduate of Stanford University who received her Master’s degree from San José State University, Jan founded Musson Theatrical Inc. in 1971. The company, launched as a home-based business, grew to offer a full range of theatrical sales and rentals, system design and specification, custom drapery and rigging design and installation, event design and production services.

Collyns Stenzel Paints Freaky Deaky Stages with COLORado Battens from Chauvet

CHICAGO – For the Freaky Deaky festival, held in Chicago’s Toyota Park soccer stadium from Oct. 30-Nov. 1, the autumn skies were gray but the performers were lit with color washes from 48 of Chauvet’s COLORado Batten 144 Tour LED fixtures. LD Collyns Stenzel used the Batten fixtures to colorwash the scenic elements on the festival’s main stage and one of its two side stages.
