Blackmagic Design’s Blackmagic Camera 1.9.9 is a major software update with multiple new features for the Blackmagic URSA digital film camera, developed with input from cinematographers. New features include 80 fps 4K recording, new 3:1 compressed RAW, frame guides, slow-mo playback, CFast formatting, scrolling menus and more. Indoor Windsurfing World Cup Competition Lights Up with SGM SixPack LED Fixtures

WARSAW, Poland — For the Professional Windsurfers Association’s PWA Indoor Windsurfing World Cup, held at Warsaw’s National Stadium Sept. 5-7, LDs Adam Tyszka and Sebastian Pachciarek used dozens of SGM SixPack pixel arrays in two separate groupings. The IP65 rating for the RGBA LED fixtures helped alleviate water ingress concerns for the fixtures placed closest to the pool.

Rome’s Cinecitta World Features “Enigma,” Show is Lit with Robe Fixtures

ROME — Italy’s rich heritage of film-making is marked by films from lauded directors including Federico Fellini, Michelangelo Antonioni, Franco Zeffirelli and many more. Rome’s new Cinecitta World visitor attraction is a theme park dedicated to Italian cinema Lighting for the 25 minute Enigma show — produced by FilmMaster and staged in a 1,200 capacity venue right in the center of the complex — has been designed by LD Giovanni Pinna, who specified a Robe moving light rig.

Vectorworks 2015 in Spanish

Nemetschek Vectorworks released the Spanish-language version of the company’s Vectorworks 2015 family of products. The release followed a wave of earlier releases that included other European-language version earlier in November; versions in Japanese and Chinese will follow. The Vectorworks line of software products includes: Designer, Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Fundamentals and Renderworks.

Australian Dance-Theatre Production in London Lit with Philips Selecon Fixtures

LONDON – An Australian dance-theatre production, Intimacy, by Michelle Ryan and Torque Show, recently traversed the globe to take up residence at the Southbank Centre in London. Part of the ‘Unlimited’ disability arts festival, the piece was lit with eight Philips Selecon LED PLprofile1 luminaires, chosen for their crucial colorizing flexibility by lighting designer John Ford. Ford, of lighting design consultancy Relume, specified the Selecon luminaires when it came to lighting the piece during its previous run at the Malthouse Theatre in Melbourne.

Video Production at Dove Awards Centers on PixelFlex FLEXCurve LED Tiles

NASHVILLE, TN – The 45th Annual Dove Awards, recently held in Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University, utilized the PixelFLEX FLEXCurve LED tile as the backbone to all video production. With 46 categories, the award ceremony was hosted by Bart Millard of MercyMe and Lecrae. There were a number of performers from the vast family of christian and gospel music genre including the Newsboys, Natalie Grant, Hezekiah Walker, King and Country, Erica Campbell, Pat Boone, Mercy Me and Mandisa among many others.

XL Video Supplies Camera Package for Fat Freddy’s Drop at Alexandra Palace in London

LONDON — When one of New Zealand’s finest bands, Fat Freddy’s Drop, confirmed their headlining show at London’s Alexandra Palace, they contacted XL Video to supply live video production for the sold-out one-off gig. The show, in support of the band’s third album Blackbird,’ rounds-off a successful year of UK shows, with a one-off at Village Underground in June, and a UK tour in October.
