Oriental Theater in Denver Closes for Repairs after Partial Ceiling Collapse

DENVER — The Oriental Theater in Denver, an 84-year-old venue listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has been closed for repairs. A portion of the ceiling estimated to be 20 by 15 feet in size fell to the stage on Sept. 23, shortly after a performance by Cajun fiddler Doug Kershaw and his band. The band members had left the stage at the time of the collapse and no injuries were reported.

ROME — In preparation for the supporting role they will play in the production of Ben Hur Live, which premiered at London’s O2 Arena in 2009 and is set to open in Rome on Sept. 29, 2011, Media Resource Group (MRG) recently added 52 items of Barco/High End Systems gear including intellaspot automated luminaires, Road Hog Full Boar consoles, Road Hog wings and DMX Processor 8000s. (The live spectacle, which includes chariot races, has also been staged in Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart and Zurich).

Kauffman Center in Kansas City Equipped with Robert Juliat Followspots

KANSAS CITY, MO — The new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, which opened Sept. 16, has taken delivery of six Robert Juliat Victor 1800W MSR followspots provided by Clair Brothers Systems. The complex, which includes the 1,800-seat Muriel Kauffman Theatre and 1,600-seat Helzberg Hall, is home to the Kansas City Ballet, Kansas City Symphony and Lyric Opera of Kansas City.
