Catering to a clientele that wants to see and be seen, Voyeur, an electronic music nightspot in San Diego's Gaslamp district, has been equipped with lipstick cameras placed throughout the venue, feeding imagery of patrons onto nearly two dozen plasma TVs.

Highlands Community Church's "Inside Out" project in Renton, Wash., uses a HD video production infrastructure provided by Advanced Broadcast Solutions (ABS) for its expanding congregation, and also for a second, video-based service in Kent, Wash.

Ross Ashton from E/T/C London created a series of three projection art works for the 2009 St. Andrews Festival, a three-day event. Two of the three works were projected on the ruins of the Cathedral of St. Andrews in Scotland, a structure that took 150 years to build and was completed in 1318.

You had to be there.

You had to be there to see a hilariously self-deprecating Dennis DeYoung emcee. You had to be there for touching, moving documentaries on the three Parnelli honorees, Richard Belliveau, Stan Miller and Jake Berry. You had to be there for the surprise winners and their usually unconventional acceptance speeches.

Jason Lyons, LD for the Broadway musical Rock of Ages, is using a Martin MAC rig for the rock anthem-infused love story at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

American Idiot, the rock album by Green Day, has become a rock opera with a recent run at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre. LD Kevin Adams used an ETC Eos lighting control system for the production.

HSL supplied all lighting and rigging for Sting: A Winter's Night…, a holiday TV special and DVD shoot staged in Durham Cathedral. The show was directed and produced by Jim Gable and Ann Kim of Graying & Balding, Inc. HSL's five-person crew was led by Simon "Piggy" Lynch. The LD for the show was Manfred "Ollie" Olma.

If you could sum it up in three thoughts, LDI 2009 might be remembered for smaller booths, crowded aisles and lots of interesting new products. The recovering economy zapped the show with a shrink ray this year, and many of the normally-gargantuan spaces were reduced to countertops and backdrops.

E/T/C UK's Ross Ashton designed a projection project for Durham Cathedral as part of the four-day Lumière, A Festival of Light event, curated and coordinated by Artichoke Productions.

Rock fans savored two nights at New York's Madison Square Garden in late October when Crosby, Stills & Nash, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Metallica, Sting, Jeff Beck, U2, Mick Jagger and other top artists helped mark the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th year.

Chauvet’s Iluminarc subsidiary may be less than a year old, but it’s scored a landmark coup of sorts: more than 400 Ilumipod 48 IP RGBW wash lights are being used for an LED light show on the Eiffel Tower as part of the structure’s 120-year anniversary celebration.

PRG supplied both the lighting package and the screen automation for the recently presented 61st Primetime Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre. Production designer Steve Bass and lighting designer Bob Dickinson worked on a smoke-free design that reflected key elements of the television industry.
