The Drone Association – Know Before You Fly

In my previous column, “The Little Drone Revolution” (PLSN, Sept. 2015, page 71), I discussed the AV industry’s great opportunity with professional Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). I also interviewed Kevin Kelly, president and COO of Stampede, who was instrumental in bringing the drone pavilion to InfoComm 2015.

Fabulous Faders

For a very long time, lighting controllers have had faders as a key component of the front panel. This is because faders are a very useful tool to manually adjust the level of something. Automated lighting consoles required additional control-ability than conventional desks, and now there are many different things that your faders can do. From controlling intensity to adjusting rate, and even allowing programming, the faders on the front of your console are extremely powerful. Let’s look at some of the more common uses of faders.

Kind of like starting up a tour. The first few days are pretty tough as everyone realizes they have a lot more responsibilities (read: more work thrown at them) than they originally signed on for.

It’s More than Just Waxing Nostalgic

Drum roll, please…. Ta Dah! This year we’re celebrating the 15th annual Parnelli Awards. This is a fact I am very proud of, and I am sure Parnelli Awards co-founder, Patrick Stansfield, is looking down at us from his production office in the sky, smiling as well. It seems just yesterday the Parnelli Awards were a gleam in our collective eyes. But now, 15 years later and with 37 of the top production people in our field honored, we have hit a milestone year.
