The famed theorist made this observation in relation to one of his landmark scientific and philosophical studies, but his words apply equally well to design. At their best, asymmetrical looks possess a unique power all their own to endow a stage with a sense of rhythm and motion that challenges the observer to see things in a new way.Read More »The Art of Asymmetry at Connection Pointe Christian Church with CHAUVET Professional

GLP JDC1 Hybrids Track Skiing/Snowboarding Tricks on the Slopes of Canada’s Big Air Show

Crowds congregate annually at the base of the ‘Smart Alec’ ski trail in Ontario to watch the province’s finest freestyle skiers and snowboarders perform choreographed flips and tricks off the 50’ Big Air Jump, accompanied by music, lights, fireworks, and all manner of show sizzle. To provide this for the Big Air Show, as the event is known, required the building of a technical infrastructure, with towers rigged with 24 of GLP’s ultra-versatile JDC1 hybrid strobes so that spectators could track the action coming down the 200’ slope and onto the landing ramp. The FOH position itself was set 50’ back, behind the video screen.Read More »GLP JDC1 Hybrids Track Skiing/Snowboarding Tricks on the Slopes of Canada’s Big Air Show

Jimmy Olausson Creates Theatrics for Avatar Tour with CHAUVET Professional

Physicists tell us that light makes no sound. That may be technically true, but when a lighting design wraps itself around ferocious metal music and a theatrical stage show to the point where they all merge into one experience, it’s easy to see how fans (and even music critics) can feel that they “heard” the light. Just asked the reviewer who wrote about Avatar’s show at the Manchester Academy during the just-concluded EU-leg of the Swedish metal band’s Dance Devil Dance tour.
