In Memoriam: Jack Valencia

LAS VEGAS – Lighting industry veteran Jack Valencia died Dec. 8 after a short battle with cancer. After starting with Live Light in Fresno, Valencia moved on to stints with Tasco and Light and Sound design. He also toured as Natalie Coles’ LD before working on lighting installations for Wynn and other casino projects in the Las Vegas area.

Knoxville’s Big Ears Festival Goes Virtual with Assist from Avolites at Bijou Theatre

KNOXVILLE, TN – The eclectic Big Ears festival, originally set for March 26-29 this year, was silenced by Covid, but that didn’t stop festival organizers from streaming a few virtual concerts in October and December. Minneapolis-based jazz trio The Bad Plus, who performed before the empty seats at the Bijou Theatre, got the visual vibe they were seeking from venue’s trusty Avolites Titan Mobile console.

Pittsburgh Takes On Holiday Glow with VLS and Chauvet Professional

PITTSBURGH – Every night in December, Pittsburgh has been undergoing a visual transformation, taking on the vibe of a holiday village courtesy of a Vincent Lighting Systems (VLS) design that incorporates Chauvet Professional COLORado Solo 1 fixtures. Vincent Lighting was brought on board by Flyspace Productions, which produced the drive-by spectacle in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership.
