LD Ben Gilbert was called upon to light the 31 city North American leg of LANY’s ‘Beautiful Blur’ tour in support of their fifth album. Not endowed with a great deal of time to do their thing, Gilbert and his team came up with a gem of a design that used a curved truss configuration to engage audience by changing the depth and shape perceptions of the stage and its runway.
Sixty million pixels of content is being driven to 18 HD projectors and three LED screens as part of an immersive installation at Poland’s Bieszczady Cultural Heritage Center, with tvONE’s Green Hippo Hippotizer Boreal+ MK2 Media Servers at the core of the visuals. More than 200GB of animated graphics are being handled by the Boreal+ MK2s in a show designed to educate, inform and entertain.
PROLIGHTS products were used to illuminate the new exhibition “«Cathars» Toulouse dans la croisade” , curated by the Saint-Raymond Museum in Toulouse. The exhibition explores the events of the crusade against the Albigensians and the issue of Cathar heresy in the 12th century.
Designer Mikki Kunttu brought Richard Wagner’s epic ‘Der Ring des Nibelungen’ to a breathtaking conclusion at the Finnish National Opera with the performance of the monumental, nearly six-hour-long ‘Götterdämmerung’ featuring Claypaky Xtylos, the laser-based beam lighting fixture.
Lighting Designer Ben Cracknell, lighting the Olivier Awards for his 11th year, chose 78 Ayrton Perseo Profile fixtures, provided by White Light, as his work horse fixtures. He wanted to modernize and unify under one fixture type his previously mixed rig, so he took advantage of White Light’s generous stock of Perseo Profiles, having enjoyed using them on previous designs.
Lighting Designer Andre Beekmans from design studio The Art of Light buckled up for some hardcore techno rave action with legendary band Scooter on their “Thirty Rough & Dirty” tour celebrating 30 years of success, innovation, energy and larging it at the cutting edge of dance music.
American guitarist and singer/songwriter Gary Clark Jr. is out on his Hyperwave Tour in support of his most recent album, JPEG RAW. Bandit Lites provided the lighting for the North American tour. When assembling the scalable lighting system, designers John Adamo and Robert Fuller took inspiration directly from Clark Jr.’s music.
In 2024, rockers 311 celebrate 34 years at the cutting edge of underground cool as one of America’s most acclaimed and popular indie bands with a massive cult following, a phenom celebrated biennially with a ‘311 Day’ two-night concert event. Designer Bobby Grey of Notan Creative, seized the opportunity to spec nearly 200 Robe moving lights for his rig.

Lighting Designer Tom Kenny utilized Elation lighting for both the indoor and outdoor stages at the 2024 CMT Music Awards earlier this spring. The lighting package, supplied by 4Wall, included PROTEUS EXCALIBUR, ARTISTE MONDRIAN, and DARTZ 360 luminaires, among other fixtures. Broadcast live from the Moody Center on the University of Texas campus in Austin, performances took place inside and on an outdoor stage in front of the iconic University of Texas Tower. Lighting direction for the indoor show was by Felix Peralta, David “Fuji” Convertino, and Michelle Griesmer, with Han Henze and Matt Piercy handling lighting direction on the outdoor stage. The Stage Managers’ Association has announced its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management. The 2024 honorees are Lloyd Davis, Jr., Ed De Shae, and Denise Yaney. In addition, the SMA will honor Mary Hunter with The Founders Award and this year’s Special Recognition Award will shine the spotlight on David J. McGraw and The Stage Manager Survey.
The architectural design of the Insomniac Events Electric Daisy Festival’s bassPOD stage is impressive by any measure. But there is more than size to this stunning structure designed by STUFISH Entertainment Architects. With its shapes and forms extending in every direction, and at multiple levels, it presents a labyrinth of possibilities. Erik Mahowald, of Bending Lite Productions, was tasked with making it come alive and accenting all its compelling power with light.

With 10 decks that can host up to 744 guests, the cruise ship promises a deluxe vacation experience with beautiful design throughout. In the search for best-in-class, the ship landed on many ETC solutions to outfit its lighting plot.
