Hometown Hero Voting is Now Open!

LAS VEGAS – From early September until Oct. 1, 2018, PLSN readers have the opportunity to vote for the best regional lighting company in each of six separate regions in North America – five U.S. regions and all of Canada. Your votes will narrow the list of 36 companies below down to just six. These regional winners will then automatically appear on the final Parnelli Awards ballot, which will be posted for a final round of voting during the month of November.

Bandit Lites Illuminates Black Music Honors

NASHVILLE – Bandit Lites provided the lighting for the third annual Black Music Honors, an evening paying tribute to trailblazing icons. Hosted by Rickey Smiley and LeToya Luckett at Nashville’s TPAC on Aug. 16, LD Mark Carver’s rig included nearly 200 fixtures including GLP X4S, Elation ACL 360 Bars, Chauvet Rogue RH1 Hybrids, Robe BMFLs, Claypaky B-Eye K20 and Bandit’s GRNLite moving washes.

San Francisco’s Warfield Theatre Updates Rig with Vari-Lite VLZ Spots and SL Beam Wash Fixtures

SAN FRANCISCO – The Warfield Theatre in downtown San Francisco, operated by Goldenvoice, has upgraded its stage lighting with Philips Vari-Lite VLZ Spots and SL Beam 500fx and 300fx wash fixtures from Signify’s Showline range. Venue lighting director Rob Robertson credits the new rig for a “drastic” decrease in power consumption.

Historic Theater in Georgia Reopens with Chauvet Professional Fixtures Lighting the Stage

AUGUSTA, GA – Built in 1940, Miller Theater was a popular destination for cinema and vaudeville for more than four decades before it suffered the fate shared by many other landmark venues and was eventually shuttered. Now, after a $23 million, multi-year restoration project, the 1,300-seat venue has reopened, with a new lighting rig featuring Chauvet Professional Rogue and Ovation fixtures.

Off-Broadway’s “This Ain’t No Disco” Rocks with Artiste Picasso

NEW YORK – LD Ben Stanton made creative use of Elation lighting fixtures, including the new Artiste Picasso LED moving head, for the world premiere of This Ain’t No Disco, a high-energy song and dance musical that ran from June 30 to August 12 at New York City’s Atlantic Theater Company. The Artiste Picasso met the need for a bright shuttering fixture with wide zoom that also offered gobo choices and CTO control.
