NAB Exhibition Welcomes Big Crowds to Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – The 2018 NAB Show exhibition opened April 9, giving some 100,000 attendees from around the world the chance to eye new products like Blackmagic Design’s $1,295 Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, Grass Valley’s GV K-Frame production switcher, and a kaleidoscope of other new product offerings from Sony, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, Avid and Sharp along with booths from big players including Cisco, Google, Facebook and Microsoft, among others.

Michael Stiller’s Design for ‘Rocktopia’ on Broadway Includes Chauvet Professional Fixtures

NEW YORK — For Rocktopia, which turns the 1,760-seat Broadway Theatre into a concert venue of sorts from March 20-April 29, Michael Stiller provided a lightshow that makes use of Chauvet Professional Rogue moving lights and PVP S5 LED tiles, all supplied by BML-Blackbird. The setup included five Rogue RH1 Hybrids, 18 Rogue R2 Wash units, 22 Rogue R2 Wash fixtures and four Rogue R1 FX-B fixtures.

VER Agrees to Merge with PRG, Announces Chapter 11 Filing

LOS ANGELES — VER announced that, as part of a comprehensive transaction supported by its second lien lenders, including funds managed by GSO Capital Partners, it has entered into an agreement to merge with an entity controlled by Production Resource Group LLC (“PRG”). To facilitate the implementation of this pre-negotiated transaction, VER filed voluntary petitions for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on April 5, 2018. These filings only affect the Company’s North American operations.

Elite Multimedia Provides Lighting for Cole Swindell Tour

NASHVILLE — Cole Swindell’s 2018 “Reason to Drink” tour, with Chris Janson and Laura Alaina as supporting acts, is getting an oversized lighting and video assist from Elite Multimedia. It’s the biggest production yet for the headlining artist, according to production designer James “Mo” Butts, with a 48-foot wide by 20-foot tall LED video wall serving as the visual centerpiece for the shows.
