Mike Grabowski Debuts Maverick MK Pyxis On MTV’s TRL

NEW YORK  – When MTV’s iconic TRL returned to the air on October 2, after a nine-year hiatus, it represented a homecoming of sorts for Mike Grabowski of the Lighting Design Group. Having worked on the star-studded program in the final years of its original run, Grabowski was familiar with the challenges of lighting a live show with an enormously eclectic mix of artists and programming formats. He also knew firsthand how to work within the parameters of MTV’s Times Square studio.

Solaframe 1500s Add Bite To Scranton Ballet’s Dracula

SCRANTON, PA. -For the Ballet Theatre of Scranton’s production of Dracula, production designer Dennis Size used six High End Systems SolaFrame 1500 fixtures, adding a heightened level of drama to the lighting and atmosphere of the dance troupe’s interpretation of Bram Stoker’s classic novel. Delivered through Craig Friedman Productions, the 1500s augmented the house rig of the Theatre At North, in Scranton. Friedman’s company (CFP) provided over forty additional automated fixtures, including venerable Studio Colors and x.Spots. To assist with the project, Size brought in Lesli Tilly as his gaffer/head electrician. Clay Harding joined the fun as his programmer.

Little Caesars Arena and Elation Custom Light Ceiling in a Class by Itself

DETROIT – Little Caesars Arena in Detroit opened in September to praise as one of the most innovative and technologically impressive sports and entertainment complexes in the world. Part of the credit can be taken by the venue’s unique dynamic ceiling, a 43,000-square-foot wire grid onto which nearly 1,700 custom LED strip lights from Elation Professional are mounted. Designed by architectural and engineering firm HOK architects, the 863 million dollar, 20,000-seat arena is part of District Detroit as the major new attraction in the city’s rapidly revitalizing greater downtown.
