Robe Finds Another Voice

SOUTH AFRICA – Robe was the moving light of choice for the second season of The Voice South Africa. Multi-Media were again appointed as technical production company by TV producers AMPN, with Joshua Cutts of Visual Frontier once again appointed as lighting designer. The show, aired on M-Net, and this year moved from a 500 capacity studio to the 3000 seater Mosaiek Teatro in Fairland, Johannesburg, reflecting the popularity of and anticipation for the popular singing contest. With that came the creative brief from series director Darren Hayward to “go for it” with more drama and excitement.

LD Victor Fable Chooses Elation LED for “Survivor: Game Changers” Finale

LOS ANGELES – For the season finale of “Survivor: Game Changers” earlier this past summer lighting designer Victor Fable decided the time was right to add more LED fixtures to the lighting rig of the popular competitive reality television series and turned to new generation LED fixtures from Elation Professional for the task. “We wanted to move to more LED and try something different without taking away the success of past live shows,” said Fable, who has traditionally used a profusion of discharge lamp fixtures on “Survivor” finale shows. “We wanted to see how much could be rolled over to LED and see how much more bang we could get with the extra fixtures it allowed us to use.”

Lady Gaga Tour Expected to Resume Nov. 3 with Lavish Production Design, Robe Gear

MONTREAL – Although Lady Gaga’s Joanne tour has been on hold since Sept. 11 as the artist recuperates from body pain caused by fibromyalgia, her fans are wishing Gaga a speedy recovery, and the tour is set to resume with a show in Montreal on Nov. 3, 2017. Along with Gaga herself, fans will be treated to a one-of-a-kind production design, which includes lighting effects from more than 200 Robe lighting fixtures supplied by Solotech for LD/production designer LeRoy Bennett’s design.

Hometown Hero Finalists Named; Other Parnelli Nominations Continue

LAS VEGAS – PLSN readers have chosen the six regional winners of this year’s Hometown Hero Award competition. These top vote getters from each of five U.S. regions plus all of Canada will be automatically entered on the Parnelli Awards ballot. PLSN readers will then get a chance to vote on which regional company will be awarded the coveted honor of Parnelli Hometown Hero Lighting Company of the Year.
