ETC Announces 2017 ETC LDI Student Sponsorship recipients

MIDDLETON, WI– Every year since 2000, ETC has provided a unique opportunity for lighting design and stage technology students, sponsoring them to attend the LDI tradeshow. This year, ETC has selected seven recipients of its LDI Student Sponsorship, giving them an all-expense-paid trip to Las Vegas and a full LDI conference pass. The students will get to see the latest entertainment technology, have access to LDI seminars and training, and the opportunity to network with industry professionals at special events. Each Sponsorship recipient will be matched with an industry luminary who will serve as a mentor as the students transition from academics into the working world.

MONTREAL – To mark Montreal’s 375th anniversary and the Festival Montreal Completement Cirque, The 7 Fingers presented the immersive production, “Vice & Vertu,” at the city’s Societe des Arts Technologiques (SAT).  The 7 Fingers used MA Lighting dot2 XL-F and XL-B consoles to control lighting for the kaleidoscope of circus, theater, comedy, video projections, burlesque and music acts that comprised the show.  A.C.T Lighting, Inc. is the exclusive distributor of MA Lighting products in North America.

MTV VMA Awards Design Included 196 GLP JDC1 Strobes

LOS ANGELES – The 36th MTV Video Music Awards program was broadcast live from the Forum in Inglewood, CA Aug. 27. LD Bob Barnhart (22 Degrees) used 194 GLP JDC1 hybrid strobes for the set, designed by Stufish’s Ric Lipson. PRG supplied the fixtures for the show. Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars and The Weeknd were among the nominees, with Lamar winning the main honor. Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Fifth Harmony, Lorde, Shawn Mendes and DNCE performed.

Nominations Still Open for 2018 Indispensable Technology “IT” Awards

The awards competition recognizes technologies that have advanced the state of the art in each of those categories within the previous year. The recognition process starts with nominations from readers of each magazine, which are still open this month. Top nominated products make it onto the Parnelli Awards ballot for a final vote.

Chris Blue Returns Home With Bandit Lites

KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE – Even after being crowned the winner of NBC’s Emmy-winning smash show The Voice, Chris Blue is the same humble, thankful person from Knoxville, Tennessee, and to show his appreciation to the city that raised him, Blue performed at the historic Tennessee Theatre, where tickets sold out in five minutes, and two additional shows had to be added, only to have all three shows sell out in minutes. Bandit Lites, whose world headquarters is based in Knoxville, was tapped to provide the lighting package for the special event.
