U2, Ed Sheeran Cancel St. Louis Shows Amid Civil Unrest and Fan Safety Concerns

ST. LOUIS – U2 and Ed Sheeran canceled shows planned in St. Louis on Sept. 16 and 17 a day after clashes took place between police and demonstrators objecting to the outcome of the Anthony Lamar Smith murder trial. A judge ruled Sept. 15 that former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley, who shot and killed Smith through the driver-side door window after a high-speed case on Dec. 20, 2011, was not guilty of premeditated murder despite potentially incriminating remarks recorded during the chase.

SJP Productions Creates Forest of Light at LOCKN’ Festival with ChamSys

ARRINGTON, VA – “Magic is what we do, Music is how we do it,” Jerry Garcia once told an interviewer.  Had the Grateful Dead frontman been around to see the fantastical transformation of his namesake forest at the recent LOCKN’ Festival, he undoubtedly would have agreed that there can be quite a bit of magic involved in lighting too. S. Jeremy Peters turned the thickly wooded “Garcia’s Forest” around LOCKN’s Terrapin Station Stage (named after the Grateful Dead’s mystical 1977 album) into a transcendental canopy of color with 150 pixel-mapped IP65 par fixtures that he controlled with his ChamSys PC Wing and Playback Wing.

Flume, the professional name of Harley Edward Streten, enjoyed a successful Red Rocks debut in 2016.  This year he added the date to an already impressive American tour during which he headlined at Bonnaroo, CRSSD and Electric Forest.

“Hand in Hand” TV Special Raises Millions for Hurricane Victims

NEW YORK – “Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief,” a one-hour TV special on Sept. 12 that featured performances and appearances from a long roster of concert, film and TV stars, raised $44 million in less than one day for those affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and more than $55 million in all. The event was organized by a team led by production manager Scooter Braun, many of whom were also involved in quickly mobilizing and organizing the “One Love Manchester” benefit with Ariana Grande in the U.K. It was organized in response to Hurricane Harvey but expanded to include Irma victims as well.

The Arkansas Children’s Hospital Brightens with Stageworks-Supplied Altman LEDs

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Arkansas Children’s Hospital is the only hospital system in the state solely dedicated to children, giving them a unique ability to shape the landscape of pediatric care. As part of their dedication to the complete well-being of children, the hospital recently underwent a renovation of their atrium lobby to create a deeper visual experience through the addition of newly commissioned artwork. Needing an effective architectural lighting solution to now light the colorful and vibrant art, the hospital worked with Stageworks and manufacturer’s rep Curtis Stout Inc. and installed Gallery 50W LED luminaires from Altman Lighting.
