OneRepublic Headlines 2017 Honda Civic Tour, Lit with Claypaky Fixtures

VANCOUVER, BC Canada – For the 2017 Honda Civic Tour headlined by OneRepublic, production designer/LD Mark Butts collaborated with show designer Raj Kapoor on a lighting rig that includes Claypaky Mythos2 and Sharpy Wash fixtures with grandMA2 consoles for control. Brian Jenkins and A.J. Pen programmed the show, and Pen is out as lighting director. The tour, which wraps up with some September shows near Houston, TX, also features Fitz & The Tantrums and opener James Arthur.

Detroit’s El Club Features Eclectic Music with Elation Lighting Rig to Match

DETROIT – Graeme Flegenheimer, owner of El Club in Detroit, Michigan, fell in love with music at a young age. That may explain his diverse taste in music and the wide variety of acts that play at the popular live music venue, which has featured a customizable Elation Professional lighting rig since opening in 2016. “I pride myself on El Club having an eclectic calendar,” says Flegenheimer, who has a background as a music publicist. “There’s not a typical night here. It’s always changing and Elation is able to meet every requirement of the artist coming in here and capture the vibe of the evening.”

ANSI Approves E1.50-1 Standard for Supporting Video Displays

NYC – On August 14 ANSI’s Board of Standards Review approved ANSI E1.50-1 — 2017, Requirements for the Structural Support of Temporary LED, Video & Display Systems. It was published by ESTA on the same day. ANSI E1.50-1 covers the support of temporary installations of large format modular display systems, LED, video and other self-illuminating display structures not otherwise addressed by existing standards. The scope of this standard includes planning and site preparedness, assembly and erection, suspension and safety of components, special access requirements, use, and dismantling of these systems.

Keith Wissmar, 1958-2017

In Memoriam: Keith Wissmar, 58

LOS ANGELES and SEATTLE – Keith Wissmar, LD for Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Neil Young, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Jack Johnson, and Gary Clark Jr., among others, died July 30 after a 14-month battle with pancreatic cancer. A private service was planned in Los Angeles. A memorial in Seattle is set for the Paramount Theater on Aug. 26 from 2-6 p.m.
