MANCHESTER, TN – Working with LD Andi Watson and production manager William Irons, Bandit Lites once again provided the lighting for the tower at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, deploying SGM G-Spot fixtures. The top of the tower, a focal point for Bonnaroo, features a large rotating mirror ball. It is actually a permanent structure that serves as a North Star of sorts to the festival attendees, allowing them to navigate more easily through the 700-acre festival site.

AUGUSTA, GA – After three Grammy Awards, over 100 shows with the Grateful Dead, and 11 million record sales, Bruce Hornsby hasn’t lost his taste for touring. The legendary singer-songwriter is crisscrossing the US with his band The Noisemakers this summer and enjoying every minute of it.  Touring is fun, Hornsby told an interviewer, because he and the band “keep the spontaneity factor high.”  This free flowing spirit was very much in evidence when the Hornsby tour bus pulled into the Columbia County Amphitheatre in June, both in terms of the music performed on stage and the John Berret designed lightshow that backed it up note for free flowing note.

NYC – ESTA’s Happy Hour to benefit Behind the Scenes returns for its 4th year as one of the biggest parties of the year and will take place on Thursday, November 16 from 6pm-8pm at the Havana Room located in the Tropicana Hotel. Tickets are only $65 in advance and are on sale now at www.behindthescenescharity.org/btshh  The Happy Hour features an open bar, hors d’oeuvres and music with all ticket sales going to benefit Behind the Scenes, our industry’s only charity specifically for entertainment technology professionals in need due to illness or injury. Since its inception in 2014, ESTA’s Happy Hour for Behind the Scenes has raised over $160,000 in sponsorships and ticket sales.

SASKATOON, SK, Canada – Telemiracle, the annual telethon in Saskatchewan, Canada that raises awareness and funds for the Kinsmen Foundation, marked its 41st year with a 21-hour, commercial-free live broadcast from TCU Place, Saskatoon’s Arts and Convention Centre.  The show’s lighting designer, Slobodan Marin, gave new punch to the telecast with Claypaky Scenius moving head spotlights, Claypaky A.leda B-EYE K10s and Robert Juliat Dalis 862 Footlights.

He used HES’ framing SoloSpot 2000s for key light and RobeCYC FX8 for scenic light and beam effects.

TEMPE, AZ  – LD John Garberson used Chauvet Professional fixtures to light the musicians performing  in triple digit temperatures prior to the annual fireworks display as part of Tempe’s Town Lake Festival. The fixtures provided bright LED output without unleashing too much additional heat on the performers braving the extreme outdoor temperatures.

LOS ANGELES – LD Butch Allen included Martin Axiom Hybrid fixtures in his lighting design for Eric Church’s “Holdin’ My Own” tour. Allen’s goal for the 65-date tour was to create a lighting rig that could translate the up-close-and-personal vibe of a small club performance to a massive arena setting. Allen and Christie Lites came up with a truss structure capable of flying Axiom Hybrid fixtures almost 80 feet in the air – well out of the audiences’ line of sight.
