HOUSTON – Lady Gaga gave a scintillating, high-flying performance at the Super Bowl 51 Halftime Show at the NRG Stadium in Houston. Opening with God Bless America on the roof of the stadium she leapt to the stage before cramming seven of her greatest hits into the 12-minute show. The acrobatics throughout were stunning. Everything, from ‘Shooting Star’ drones flying in unison above the stadium to create the American flag to the stage surrounded by fire and Glow Motion torches, was top drawer.

HOUSTON – On Feb. 5, Houston, Texas played host to the NFL’s Super Bowl LI, at NRG Stadium. Entertaining the crowds in the hotly anticipated Pepsi Zero Sugar Halftime Show was Lady Gaga, whose performance earned the respect of millions in an intense 12-minute spectacular that was viewed by over 115 million people worldwide. The show was another world-class collaboration from co-production designers, Bruce Rodgers of Tribe Inc., LeRoy Bennett of Seven Design Works, and lighting designer Bob Barnhart of 22 Degrees.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Chauvet Professional featured its Ovation E-260WW white light and Ovation E-910FC full color LED fixtures in the spotlight at the recent USITT conference and expo in St. Louis, MO. The company reported record crowds at its booth during the 2017 event.

FALCON, MO — Le Maitre noted the opening of a facility in rural Missouri where it will be making pyrotechnics and special effects including 150’ and 200’ Comets, as well as Flames and Gun Shot products. The U.S. facility expands on the company’s U.K.-based manufacturing operations.

NASHVILLE — For the U.S. leg of We the Kings’ 10^th anniversary tour, Squeek Lights is providing a rig centered upon Chauvet Professional fixtures, including Rogue R1 Washes and Nexus 4×1 4-cell COB RGB LED units. Squeek Lights’ LD for the tour, Steve Kosiba, designed the rig to adapt to a wide range of venues.

LAS VEGAS — FOR-A will introduce the HVS-490 live HD/4K-UHD multiple effects production switcher; HVS-100TB2 interface; MBP-200TB2 SDI Gateway with Thunderbolt interface; and FVW-700 HD/4K-UHD telestrator. Held from April 22-27 this year at the Las Vegas Convention Center, FOR-A will exhibit in NAB booth C5117.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA — 4Wall provided lighting for a dance marathon event at Penn State University that raised more than $10 million for organizations helping children with cancer and their families. The event, dubbed THON, ran for 46 hours within Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center. 4Wall DC provided the rental package for the event made possible by donations from Red Brick Productions, ETC, the Bryce Jordan Center, and various other University entities.

ST. LOUIS, MO — The Resident Shows Division of Cirque du Soleil received the Institute’s highest honor, the USITT Award, at USITT 2017. The award recognizes a lifetime contribution to the performing arts and entertainment communities. It was presented at the 2017 Annual Conference & Stage Expo on March 8 in St. Louis, MO. Jerry Nadal, senior VP of Cirque’s resident show division, was credited for his support of USITT training, education, and mentoring initiatives. He is pictured here.

WORCESTER, MA — Epica, a heavy-metal band from the Netherlands that takes inspiration from classical symphonic music, toured North America in November and December with a floor package from JDI Productions that included 12 Chauvet Professional Rogue R1 FX-B fixtures.

MIDDLETON, WI – ETC, Inc. has established the David North Memorial Scholarship for Lighting Technology at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.  ETC’s intention in making this gift is to provide financial need-based support for the study of lighting technology in memory of our longtime employee and friend, David A. North, a North Carolina gentleman and supporter of The School of Design and Production.
