SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT — Madaila, a Vermont-based jam band with a stage presence that elicits comparisons to Phish, performed a New Year’s Eve show at Higher Ground in Burlington with lighting by house LD Kyle Rose, who lit the band with Rogue fixtures from Chauvet Professional.

NEW YORK — All four ETCP examinations will be given on one session at USITT in St. Louis, MO on the morning of Saturday, March 11, 2017. The deadline is quickly approaching. BEREA, KY — Berea College’s holiday production, Listen! A Musical Celebration of Christmas, was broadcast on Christmas Eve by CBS affiliates. LD Mark Carver worked with Bandit Lites to enhance Berea Chapel and the performances that took place.

WEBSTER GROVES, MO – For the production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth staged by Webster University’s Conservatory of Theater Arts last fall, Seth Jackson and student LD Josh Murphy enhanced the visual look of the production by using four Claypaky Scenius moving head spotlights.

NEW YORK — The Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) will launch a new version of the practice exams for the Entertainment Electrician Certification on January 30, 2017. This version is an entirely new set of questions and is available in addition to the practice exam that was created in 2009.

PALMETTO, FL — Feld Entertainment, the producers of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus productions, announced in March 2015 that it would be phasing out the use of live elephants in its productions by 2018. Now, as it turns out, the circus productions themselves will cease. The company says the loss of its elephant acts led to a dramatic drop in ticket sales and that, along with rising costs and battles with animal activists, led to the decision to shut down after 146 years of producing “The Greatest Show on Earth.” The last shows will take place in May.

LOS ANGELES — For Enchanted: Forest of Light, the temporary lighting installation at Descanso Gardens in Los Angeles that was open from Nov. 25, 2016 to Jan. 8, 2017, LD Chris Medvitz included SGM’s outdoor-rated G-Spot fixtures. Medvitz, who chose the G-Spots to create the drama and saturated color quality he was looking for, praised the fixtures for reliability and durability and ability to stand up to California’s winter weather conditions. Another selling point for Medvitz was the fixtures’ additive color mixing.
