Bay Area Tragedies Cut Lives Short
SAN FRANCISCO — Less than a week after the son of a Cirque du Soleil founder died from a head injury in a backstage lift accident prior to the Nov. 29 production of Luzia in San Francisco, a cluttered warehouse used for a rave event in Oakland lost power and caught fire on Dec. 2, trapping dozens of revelers, many on an elevated loft platform that lacked a reliable stairwell or exit.

OAKLAND, CA — The death toll continues to climb after a tragic fire broke out late on Dec. 2 at a warehouse used for an all-night rave party in Oakland, CA. NEW YORK — The iHeartRadio Theater in TriBeCa, a 5,500-square-foot, 250-capacity venue, opened as a Clear Channel-owned performance space in 2009 and was rebranded with the iHeartRadio name in 2011. Stephen Wyker, technical director, detailed the lighting setup for the 28-by-18-foot triangular stage, where top acts perform not just for the intimate live audience, but for millions watching from afar.
