AUSTIN, TX -– Production designer Tobias Rylander created a dynamic and versatile light show for Texas post-rock five-piece, Explosions in the Sky, using 16 of GLP’s X4 Bar 20 LED battens. Knowing these could be used to create big fields of light from an economical package, the designer sourced the fixtures from vendors, VER.

LAS VEGAS – Sponsored by High End Systems, the 2016 Hog Factor National Collegiate Lighting Show Programming Competition was held at the recent LDI exhibition in Las Vegas. The contest was very close this year, with Webster University’s team The Fauxtons ultimately winning the competition on Friday, October 21st. The Fauxtons team of Josh Murphy, Natali Arco and Jon Ontiveros competed against The HOG Hushers from Carnegie Mellon University and Los Monos de Muerte from Southern Methodist University in the second annual contest.

ST LOUIS, MO – USITT considers architecture an important discipline in the world of performing arts and live entertainment, design, and technology. USITT 2017 is offering 13 architecture sessions, all approved for up to 20 AIA credit hours. Five of those sessions also provide health, safety, and welfare credits. The conference will run March 8-11 at America’s Center Convention Complex in St. Louis.

NEW YORK — ETCP is pleased to announce an extremely high renewal rate for its original Entertainment Electrician certificants. A decade ago, almost 100 candidates from North America gained their ETCP Certifications at LDI in Las Vegas, NV. This year in October, 94 percent of the inaugural class of 2006 renewed their certifications as their second five-year renewal was due to expire.
