NEW YORK —From the first serve to the final championship match, tennis fans were able to enjoy coverage worldwide from the 2016 US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY.  While the commentators and analysts, as well as interview subjects, were discussing every volley and ace they were lit by the television lighting design firm Ferri Lighting Design & Associates (FLDA), led by Sr. Designer and Founder, Bruce Ferri.

NASHVILLE — For Rascal Flatts’ Rhythms & Roots tour, LD Mike Swinford worked with Andy Knighton on a design that includes Elation ACL 360 Bar color-changing LED battens in the rig. Knighton has 18 ACL 360 Bar fixtures encircling each of three 22-foot round LED video circles. Bandit Lites is supplying gear for the tour, which runs into mid-October.

NYC – The Behind the Scenes Foundation announced the Fred Foster Scholarship Fund. Board members had long been seeking a way to honor Fred’s innumerable contributions to our industry and, in particular, his unwavering support of the charity since its inception.

BOSTON – For a music event billed as the “ultimate double-header” at Fenway Park, Jason Aldean teamed up with Kid Rock for two shows on the weekend after Labor Day, Sept. 9-10. Keith Hoagland’s light show made use of a floor package of Rogue RH1 Hybrid moving lights supplied by Bandit Lites. Hoagland used 18 Rogue RH1 Hybrids in groups of three along the upstage risers behind the backline for Aldean’s show. Justin Shaw, working for Kid Rock’s lighting designer Nook Schoenfeld, also made use of the fixtures at the event.

PHILADELPHIA – The festivities for the 2016 Democratic National Convention extended well beyond Wells Fargo Center, with lighting transforming some of the city’s many landmarks.  Starlite Productions was tasked with creating a patriotic ambiance for two of them with the help of Clay Paky Mythos lighting fixtures.  The company was commissioned by The Lighting Practice to light 30th Street Station, Amtrak’s main railroad station in Philadelphia.  The Lighting Practice and Center City District also commissioned Starlite to illuminate the iconic, clock tower perched atop City Hall.
