Volbeat’s World Tour Rig Includes Martin Axiom Fixtures

DENVER — For Volbeat’s 2016 world tour, LD Niller Bjerregaard included Martin MAC Axiom Hybrid fixtures. The band, from Denmark, is known for their fusion of rock ‘n’ roll, heavy metal and rockabilly. The current world tour is in support of their sixth album, Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie. Bjerregaard chose the MAC Axiom Hybrid fixtures for their  power,  performance and versatility.

Frendly Gathering in VT

Vermont Music Festival Backed by Chauvet Professional PVP S7 Tiles

WINDHAM, VT – For Vermont’s “Frendly Gathering” music festival (spelled without an I for a reason), Tristan Rudat using Chauvet Professional’s PVP S7 panels to make sure all eyes were focused on a variety of different looks for the 26 acts as they performed styles ranging from rock, jam, reggae and bluegrass. Rudat used 50 of the tiles, arranging them in a 5 by 10 configuration that measured approximately 16 by 9 feet. The panels complemented a lighting rig that included Chauvet Rogue and other fixtures supplied by Supreme Lights and Sound.

Hawaii’s Inspire Church Says “Aloha” to elektraLite LED Fixtures

WAIPAHU, HI — Inspire Waikele Church needed a lighting system for its live singing and live streaming. Axia Concepts of San Jose, CA installed 20 elektraLite 1018AI LED stage lights, 18 ML602 LED moving profile spots with gobos, and a dozen eyeBall LED fixtures into Inspire Waikele’s main sanctuary. For special accent/effects lights, the church now also has two LOS-1 Lightstream Quad LEDs—which offer tight, twisty beam effects from their mountings on a movable split yoke—and eight elektraBar full-featured linear strip LED fixture.

In Memoriam: Monty Lee Wilkes, 54

KETTLE RIVER, MN — Monty Lee Wilkes, an occasional tour manager, noted FOH engineer and producer, passed away peacefully on Aug. 26, 2016 in hospice at his parents house after a lengthy bout with terminal cancer. He was 54. Wilkes’ work spanned nearly every musical genre, with his resume including credits with The Replacements, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Joe Strummer, Curtiss A, The Suburbs, Soul Asylum, Prince, The Smithereens, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, The Go Go’s, Engelbert Humperdinck, Soul Asylum, The Suburbs, Babes in Toyland, Lisa Marie Presley, Red Kross, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The B-52’s and the Commodores.

CHICAGO – Jonah Maxwell spent seven months making a short film on an important subject that people his age know more about than us adults. In “The Bully”, the gifted 12 year old filmaker brings to light an important topic, through the eyes of his classmates. Jonah enlisted the help of many of his schoolmates and the  school grounds as he conceived, scripted, shot and edited the film.
