CHICAGO, IL.  – The show must go on. And in Chicago recently, Pirtek was working behind the scenes to ensure it would.  Pirtek’s work for Stageline helped Lollapalooza run without a hitch from July 28-31. Lollapalooza is an annual music festival that goes on world wide with acts that include alternative rock, punk, metal and comedy. The Chicago event featured more than 170 bands, including Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

LOS ANGELES – For  Classixx, a hard-to-classify DJ duo that recently performed a show at the 800-seat El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles to mark the release of their second LP, Faraway Reach, LD Noah Sharp used six Rogue R1 Washes in his floor package.

ORLANDO – Techni-Lux announced product and training demos in Fort Lauderdale on Aug. 30 and Miami on Sept. 1, 2016. Guests will have an opportunity to go hands on with dozens of products for entertainment lighting, video and special effects. Representatives from Techni-Lux, ChamSys, Highlite and SGM will be on hand as well. The events are designed for anyone who is involved in stage, production, A/V, night club owners and light jockeys, theatres, theme parks, houses of worship, architectural and entertainment lighting.

DALLAS – The ESTA Control Protocols Plugfest, an event where manufacturers and developers can test their products for interoperability with other manufacturers’ products, is scheduled to take place January 20-23, 2017, at the Dallas/Fort Worth Marriott Solana in Westlake, Texas. The event is free to attend and everyone is welcome!

NEW YORK — ESTA noted that two new standards were approved by ANSI and published in early August. They involve the design, installation and use of orchestra pit lifts and overhead mounting of luminaires and lighting accessories. ESTA also posted new standards for public review involving manually operated hoist rigging systems and, separately, recommended guidelines for entertainment rigging system inspections.

AUSTIN, TX — Life Austin Church recently opened the new 1,000 seat Life Austin Amphitheatre. LightParts, which has been working with Life Austin Church since 2013, provided lighting for the newest worship space. The rig includes 20 Intellaspots, five Shapeshifter C1’s and a FQ-100 fogger, all from High End Systems, with a Road Hog Full Boar 3 console for control.

DENVER – Brown Note Productions, Inc. purchased four Robert Juliat Merlin 2.5K HMI touring followspots and quickly put them to work for Dead and Company at CU Boulder and Pearl Jam headlining The RIDE Festival in Telluride, CO.

LONDON – Event technical production and rental specialist PR Live expands its team with the addition of three new key staff members who joined the south London based company following extremely strong business during the first half of the year. Dave Gillett joins as Head of Technical, while Karl Travers and Rhys Williams both come on-board as Senior Project Managers, all bringing lots of energy, dynamics and a vast fund of experience, knowledge and excellent contacts to the PR Live equation led by founder and MD, Ian Coull.

STURGIS, SD —Miranda Lambert is currently touring North America on her “Keeper of the Flame” tour. Paul “Arlo” Guthrie’s lighting design makes use of 27 Robe BMFLs, including 19 BMFL Spots and eight BMFL Blade fixtures. This is Guthrie’s first design for the popular country artist. His design includes five wood-framed columns of LED screens alternating with six bent-wood lighting towers on floor bases. Above this, there are five upstage / downstage trussing “fingers” and two standard straight trusses.
