LAS VEGAS – Australian pop vocal group Human Nature returned to The Venetian in Las Vegas with their new Jukebox production, which smoothly blends retro pop classics with Doo-Wop, Motown and Soul. The aim of the show is to bring some of the greatest vocal hits of all time to the cabaret stage in their own personal jukebox. As with previous Human Nature productions in ‘Sin City’ (such as Motown), GLP lighting is used extensively to add both drama and subtlety to the show.

EL PASO — Memorial Day marks the traditional kick-off to summer in the U.S., and music fans in western Texas celebrated the long weekend at the Neon Desert Music Festival in El Paso. They danced to the rhythms of Dutch DJ Tiësto and a variety of other acts, many of whom performed beneath rigs packed with Elation lighting fixtures. The festival ran May 28-29 with acts from the worlds of indie rock, Latin and electronic dance music performing across five stages in downtown El Paso.

NEW YORK –Storefront for Art and Architecture’s annual Spring Benefit took place this year in the landmark TWA Flight Center at JFK International Airport, originally designed by Eero Saarinen. Storefront for Art and Architecture is an organization that explores the forces shaping the built environment today.  With the theme “Beyond Borders,” its Spring Benefit reflected upon a growing collective consciousness about spaces of difference and the desire to transcend them. WorldStage provided the lighting, sound and video technology for the gala evening, the last public event held at the landmark terminal before its redevelopment as a luxury hotel.

A strong customer demand for the latest studio style fixtures led to the investment.  The recently added equipment is spread across a number of well-known product lines from the top manufacturers in order to keep a good balance of gear in stock.

NASHVILLE – It was a sight to behold on Nashville’s famous Broadway street as fans filled the famous stretch of honky-tonks to celebrate country music’s biggest night at the CMT Awards. Bandit Lites provided the lighting for the outdoor stage where long time Bandit client Jason Aldean ignited the crowd and the sky with his newest single, “Lights Come On” on live television.

SPOKANE, WA — Coinciding with Spokane’s week-long Lilac Festival celebration in late May, Justin Haas of AMP’D Entertainment transformed the façade of the Washington Trust Financial Center building with lilac-colored hues. The building is located along the route of the festival’s annual parade. To provide a realistic lilac colored wash, Haas used 24 COLORado 4 IP IP66 RGBW linear wash fixtures and 8 COLORado 2-Quad Zoom Tour RGBW par-style fixtures from Chauvet Professional..

NASHVILLE — More than 13 years into business, mobile production specialist TNDV has turned the ignition on Exclamation, its largest truck to date. Exclamation, which hit the road in late May, becomes TNDV’s eighth mobile production truck, and its first 53-foot, double-expando Class A truck to offer native 1080p broadcast and production capability across its entire infrastructure and workflow.

NEW YORK– A.C.T Lighting, Inc. will host a new product showcase in Manhattan on June 21 and 22 featuring the latest products from Clay Paky, MA Lighting, MDG and Robert Juliat.  The by-invitation event will take place in the Ford Foundation Studio at the Pershing Square Signature Center in the midtown theater district. Hours are from 10 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, June 21 and from 10 am to 4 pm on Wednesday, June 22.  Coffee, refreshments and light snacks will be served. A.C.T Lighting is the exclusive distributor of the brands in North America.

LAS VEGAS – For Raiding the Rock Vault in Las Vegas (pictured here) and its brand-new country cousin, Raiding the Country Vault in Branson, MO, audiences get to see genuine rock and country artists (and not just impersonators) do their thing. The shows’ production was developed by lighting designer Paul Dexter. Both productions present the biggest selling classic songs from an unrepeatable era (mainly 1965-1990) and include Elation Professional Platinum Series moving head fixtures and Cuepix Panel LED matrix blinders as visual support.

NEW YORK — In an evening that was at once somber, defiant and celebratory, less than 24 hours after the deadliest mass shooting in American history claimed 50 lives at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, the hip hop musical, Hamilton, which had received a record 16 Tony Awards, dominated the winner’s circle with 11 wins, including LD Howell Binkley’s award for “Best Lighting Design from a Musical.”
