Chauvet Professional Sponsors Student Lighting Showcase at Montalban Theatre

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Since 2014, the Chauvet Professional Student Lighting Showcase has had teams of two to three students from college theater programs in the LA area work under the guidance of educators to create lighting designs for different pieces of music. Their work is then critiqued by professional designers. The program is moving from Chauvet’s Burbank showroom to the Montalbán Theatre, and this year, the students will be asked to light songs from the movies using PVP X3 LED video panels, Next NXT-1 moving LED panels, Nexus 4×4 panels and other Chauvet components. The showcase is set for Saturday, April 16.

Pitbull Performs the Night After the Grammys on The Tonight Show, Rig Includes Elation ACL 360 Roller Fixtures

LOS ANGELES — Rapper Pitbull performed his latest single, “Bad Man,” on NBC’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Feb. 16, the night following the Grammys, where Pitbull also performed (and won an award). Fallon’s show, normally based in New York, was filming in Los Angeles Feb. 15-19, and Pitbull was joined by Robin Thicke, Joe Perry and Travis Barker along with a cadre of dancers and some hyperkinetic lighting looks achieved with  the help of Elation Professional’s new ACL 360 Roller effect lights.

Disciple Now Weekend in Grand Prairie, TX Lit with Mega-Lite Fixtures

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX – Disciple Now Weekend draws high school and middle school students in the Grand Prairie, Texas area together. Held at First Baptist Church, the youth retreat is a three-day long gathering that includes praise and worship, bible studies, concerts and speakers. The youth pastors that organized the event turned to Ditech A.V. of El Campo, TX for their production needs, providing the church with gear from Mega Systems, Inc.

LOS ANGELES  – For Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s “The River Tour 2016,” LD Jeff Ravitz sought visuals that would evoke concerts circa 1980, when Springsteen’s fifth album, The River, was released, while also leveraging the technological advantages of today’s LED fixtures. He was able to do both with a rig that updated the old-school PAR cans of yesterday with newer fixtures, including COLORado 1-Tri IP LED pars from Chauvet Professional.

ETC’s iRFR and aRFR Apps Reach a Quarter of a Million Dollars in Donations to Behind the Scenes

SALT LAKE CITY – At USITT 2016, Fred Foster, CEO of ETC, presented a check for $19,259.35 to Behind the Scenes, which reflected ongoing proceeds from sales of ETC’s iRFR and aRFR (Radio Focus Remote) applications for iOS and Android devices. This amount brought the total donated from the apps to just over a quarter of a million dollars, a number that overwhelms everyone involved. When first launched, it was unimaginable that these apps, developed by ETC software engineers Chris Mizerak and Anders Ekvall, would bring so much help and hope to our colleagues in need.
