Ultra Music Festival 2016 Featured 500+ Elation Fixtures

MIAMI — Described as “three-days of fast beats, loud drops, beautiful people, and so many lights” by Billboard, many of those luminaires used on Ultra Music Festival again bore the Elation Professional logo with well over 500 Elation products in action on several stages at Miami’s biggest EDM party of the year. Some 165,000 people jammed into Miami’s Bayfront Park March 24-26 for Ultra’s 18th incarnation.

Bruce Springsteen Cancels April 10 Show Over North Carolina’s HB2 “Bathroom” Law

GREENSBORO, NC — Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band have canceled the show set for Greensboro, NC April 10 in protest of HB2, a.k.a. “the bathroom law,” which prevents municipal and county governments from passing antidiscrimination measures that could serve the interests of those who are gay or transgender. Springsteen posted an explanation outlining the reasons for the cancellation on Facebook.

Pennsylvania Ballet Tilts at “Don Quixote” with Clay Paky Gear

PHILADELPHIA – LD Michael Korsch selected Clay Paky Alpha Spot QWO 800 and Alpha Profile 800 ST moving lights as part of the rig for the world premiere of Don Quixote at the Pennsylvania Ballet. The production featured a large, two-story set from San Diego Opera. The production was staged from March 3-13 at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. Main Light Industries supplied the Clay Paky fixtures for Korsch’s lighting design.

Gregg Allman Tour Bus Crashes in WV, Three Sustain Minor Injuries

JACKSON COUNTY, WV — The tour bus carrying Gregg Allman’s crew crashed at about 5 a.m. April 6 near the border of West Virginia’s Kanawha and Jackson counties. Three of the 12 crew members aboard were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Allman was not on the bus. The crew was en route to Allman’s April 6 show at the Clay Center in Charleston; it’s expected to go on as planned. The Celebrity Coaches bus crashed down an embankment near a creek after the driver reportedly started choking and lost control. Those taken to the hospital included crew members Earl McCoy, Timothy Wright and Michael Gallun, according to reports. All were treated and released.
