Alcorn McBride Celebrates 30 Years

ORLANDO – Alcorn McBride, Inc. marked its 30th anniversary by celebrating its position as the leading manufacturer of show control, audio and video equipment for the theme park industry. The company got its start by founder and CEO Steve Alcorn in 1986 after his experiences working on behalf of Disney World’s EPCOT helped inspire the launch of the company. Prior to the company’s launch, Alcorn served as vice president of engineering for Linn Electronics, an electronic musical instrument manufacturer. The company is now based in Orlando, FL.

BOSTON – The band, Lettuce, touring in support of their jazz-and-funk infused Nov. 6, 2015 album release, Crush, are performing with a visual design from production designer Gabe Fraboni and lighting designer Wiley Cutler that includes a collection of Rogue fixtures from Chauvet Professional. The rig, supplied by 4Wall Entertainment, includes six Rogue R2 Spot fixtures and six Rogue R1 Washes.

D.I.C.E. Award Ceremonies Lit with Chauvet’s ÉPIX Bar 20 LED Fixtures

LAS VEGAS –  Music has its Grammys, film its Oscars, lighting its Parnellis… for members of the burgeoning computer and video gaming industry the highest honor is to win a D.I.C.E. Award. Founded in 1992, the award, which is determined by ballots cast by the 23, 000 members of Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, has honored legends like Super Mario as well as newcomers like Dragon Age Inquisition. Its’ acronyms name stands for “Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain.” The four words aptly describe the games that were up for D.I.C.E. Awards at this year’s ceremonies. They also reflect the spirit of the lightshow created for the event by Creative Designer Chris Wu and Lighting Designer Chris Lose.

Morris Uses Clay Paky, grandMA2 Consoles for 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend

NASHVILLE – It was Nashville’s turn to host the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend, and the four-day event in Music City was packed with enough star power on and off the ice to excite thousands of hockey fans.  Morris, formerly known as Morris Light and Sound, was charged with conceptualizing and executing the audio and lighting installations and providing 24/7 production management at five venues during the weekend. Morris deployed large complements of Clay Paky Mythos and Sharpy Wash 330 fixtures along with grandMA2 consoles at three of the locations.

GLP Lights Up Hollywood for STAR WARS World Premiere

HOLLYWOOD, CA – For the world premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, LA-based NYX Design put GLP’s X4 Atom, X4 Bar 20 and X4 Bar 10 fixtures into service. Said to be one of the biggest film premieres ever staged, with the red carpet stretching for half a mile, the film was shown in three cinemas simultaneously.

Light City Baltimore Set for March 28-April 3

BALTIMORE, MD –  Light City Baltimore is a festival of light, music and innovation. The inaugural event will light up Baltimore’s Inner Harbor from March 28 – April 3 with art, music, performances, and an innovation conference. Central to the event, will be the 1.5-mile BGE Light Art Walk, with 50 illuminated experiences and art installations, musical performances, street theater and concerts, all free and open to the public. The event will kick off with the Light City Lantern Parade coordinated by the Creative Alliance on March 28 at 7 p.m., beginning at the Maryland Science Center and following the BGE Light Art Walk.

Image Engineering Kicks Off 2016 with Lighting, FX for Top Football Games

GLENDALE, AZ –  Image Engineering spent the beginning of 2016 working on the two largest football games of the year, the National Football Championship (pictured here) and the Super Bowl. At the National Football Championship Image Engineering provided lighting, cryogenic and flame special effects for the Clemson University and University of Alabama player introductions. These effects energized the players and fans helping to set the stage for what was a riveting game. An audience of over 70,000 fans were in attendance and over 25 million viewers watched on television.
