University of Tennessee Event in Nashville Gets Bandit Lites Support

NASHVILLE – Some of the University of Tennessee’s top students, including Hannah Robison and Josh Dobbs, who are, respectively, Miss Tennessee and UT’s football team QB, arrived at Legislative Plaza in Nashville February 17 to meet with Tennessee legislators during the 10th Annual UT Day on the Hill. Bandit Lites provided Vari*Lite VL 2500s to cover the room with patterns and colors, while GRNLite LED Battens lit the upper balcony walls. ZR 44 smoke machines gave the senators and representatives a dramatic entrance. Additional lighting came from custom UT gobos shot with ETC 5 degree ellipsoidal, while the stage lighting and control was provided by the venue.

Pyrotecnico Adds MA Lighting’s dot2 core Consoles for SFX Control

NEW CASTLE, PA – Pyrotecnico has invested in consoles from MA Lighting. The company took delivery of two dot2 core consoles with four dot2 F-wings. A.C.T Lighting, Inc. is the exclusive distributor of MA Lighting products in North America. Pyrotecnico plans to use the dot2 cores for DMX-controlled flames, CO2 jets, confetti and streamers, and DMX-driven laser technology for upcoming shows.

PHILADELPHIA – For American rock band Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, which performed at the Fillmore in Philadelphia to ring in 2016, LD Jason Liggett used Elation Professional’s eMOTION moving head digital light. The eMOTION is Elation’s new plug and play DMX moving light with an on-board media server developed in cooperation with High End Systems. Utilizing only 32 DMX channels (54 in extended mode), it houses royalty-free digital art and videos with the ability to upload custom content.

Filmwerks Teams with ModTruss for Super Bowl 50 Broadcast Structures

SANTA CLARA, CA – At Super Bowl 50, there was no shortage of temporary broadcast studios and stage structures to accommodate all the sports media covering the big game. Filmwerks International, based in Rocky Point, NC, handled the design, construction, and power for many of the studios. Filmwerks used nearly 1,000 pieces of ModTruss to erect seven broadcast structures including multiple NFL Network Super Bowl structures in the Media Center, field location, and at the Super Bowl City main entrance. Filmwerks also built the CBS Sports’ Stadium location and provided additional support for the flying camera systems.

Marburg b(u)y Night Sets Medieval Castle, Other German Landmarks Aglow

MARBURG, Germany – Every year, during Marburg b(u)y Night, Marburg city center lights up: more than sixty public and private buildings become the stars of the show, and the shops stay open until midnight. The centerpiece of the event this year was the “Blickpunkt Schloss” project: the medieval landgraves’ castle was lit up on the hour and half hour starting from 6 pm with a time coded light and music show. Flashlight Veranstaltungstechnik GmbH saw to the event’s lighting needs. LD/programmer/operator Sebastian Haffer used 39 Clay Paky Mythos units with a grandMA light and onPC command wing for control.
