NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario, Canada – The Beaux-Arts façade of the Toronto Power Generating Station, a building that dates from 1906 and is now owned by the Niagara Parks Commission, got a wash of color during the recent Niagara Winter Festival of Lights event from Chroma-Q Color One 100 IP65-rated LED PARs. 

NEW YORK — As New Yorkers celebrated the arrival of 2016, several thousand EDM fans rocked out at Big Week NYC, a series of concerts produced by RPM Presents and staged at Pier 94 and Pier 36. Kevin Mignone, owner of New York-based KM Productions, lit Rudimental, Nicky Romero, Knife Party, Future, Travis Scott, Chainsmokers, and Oliver Heldens, among others, with a rig that included Robe BMFL Spots and Pointes.

PHILADELPHIA – LD Lenny Sasso has been using the zone control and pixel mapping features of Chauvet Professional Rogue and Nexus fixtures provided by Squeek Lights for Atreuy, a Metalcore band that takes its name from one of the characters in German author Michael Ende’s The Neverending Story. 

AUSTIN, TX – Wes Lane, principal and lead designer at LIGHTfaktor (pictured here, left) noted that the architectural lighting design firm and custom lighting fixture manufacturer has opening an events design and rental division, led by Amy D. Lux (pictured right). LIGHTfaktor also recently signed on as a Robe dealer. Both divisions will operate out of LIGHTfaktor’s headquarters and showroom in Austin, TX.

CHICAGO – For the “Chi-Town Rising” New Year’s Eve event, broadcast live from downtown Chicago, Intelligent Lighting Creations provided 18 Aquabeam fixtures, sourced via SHS Global, to light the event’s key focal point: the rising star.

ATLANTA –  For the BMI Trailblazers Awards, presented at Atlanta’s Rialto Center for the Arts on Jan. 16 to honor achievers in Gospel Music, Magnum’s Todd Finch provided lighting and video gear that included 57 PVP S5 panels from Chauvet Professional. Scott Chmielewski and his team at DMDS7udios of Miami managed the custom screen content.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Mexican rock pop band Mana concluded its Cama Incendiada World Tour last fall with a large complement of Clay Paky Mythos, A.leda B-EYE K10 and K20, and Stormy lighting fixtures controlled by grandMA2 consoles. Alain Corthout was lighting designer for the tour, which featured 107 Clay Paky Mythos, 54 K10s, 32 K20s and 36 Stormys in the rig.

SAN FRANCISCO – When Apple launched the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco last year, Prelite Studios played a key role in helping lighting designers for the general session and for guest band OneRepublic previsualize the event before the lighting rig was set up on site.

LONDON – Electronic metalcore five-piece Bring Me The Horizon recently completed a tour of the U.S. and Europe in support of their latest album, That’s The Spirit. LD Ben Inskip used Philips Showline SL NITRO 510C LED strobes to cut through the brightness of the show’s significant video element.

NASHVILLE  – Old Crow Medicine Show continued its seven year tradition of helping Nashville ring in the New Year with a two night performance at The Ryman Auditorium. Bandit Lites teamed with Pulse Lighting to provide a lighting package for the Americana band. LD Michael Cummings used Bandit 5x5s, Source Four Pars and Eurolite STP-10s; Pulse provided GLP X4S and GLP Bar 10’s and an Avolites Sapphire Touch for control.

NASHVILLE – A renowned manufacturer of quality road cases, Upstate Case Manufacturing was founded in upstate New York. The company has since relocated from Utica, NY to Nashville, TN. Owner Bill Whittaker is now celebrating the company’s 25-year milestone at its new home in Music City.
